You have a bad safety switch, maybe the seat or clutch switch.

I have a huskee lt 4200. When i engage blades it bogs down as tho im in high grass even tho im not. When i disengage blades so engine regains running speed it pops and backfires a few times from carb

As the engine spits from the carb an engine service would be a good idea for a start, including a fuel system clean and a spark quality check.

It would be wise to ensure the blades turn easily by hand and the bearings are in good order.

Cub Cadet-Blades won't stay engaged

sounds like either a saftey switch problem or a bad drive clutch on the pto. usuallly the mower shuts down, not the blades, they may have changed this though. my best guess would be a safety sensor try calling your local cub dealer and talking to the repair person he can shed light on the problem.

I started my craftsman 21hp 42in deck today it had a rough idle with backfire and when engade mower it seemed to not have enough power

Backfiring is a sign of too rich on gas and not enough air. Not enough gas will cause the mower to bog down when blades are engaged as it isn't powerful enough to run the motor AND turn the blades. Check your carb and see if you need to clean it and replace diaphgram. Sounds a lot like a carb problem.

Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver
