How do I fix our Printer?

Our Xerox Printer keeps switching itself off automatically, I switch it on after a few seconds it turns off then turns right on again... the cycle continues for the entire day.

This sounds like a power supply problem to me.
I would get in touch with Xerox concessionaires as soon as you can it could be a faulty power supply or one which needs upgrading perhaps. If it's not too old then I'm sure theres a fix.

  1. Open and close the Top Cover to resolve the problem.
  2. If the problem persists, arrange the ink sticks until there are no spaces between sticks of the same color.
  3. Check for non 8500/8550 ink sticks jammed in the ink load chutes.

If you're setting up the printer or changing the toner or ink cartridge for the first time, double-check the instructions to make sure that you installed the cartridge correctly and, for new printers, that you have removed all the pieces of cardboard or plastic packing material. 
Check to see whether paper is feeding from the paper tray. If it's not leaving the tray at all, try feeding a page manually (if that's an option) or using a different paper tray. Sometimes a problem with the tray can be traced to a broken spring or a piece of plastic. 
If paper is feeding from the tray but jamming in the printer, examine where the jam is occurring and then inspect the printer carefully to see if you can find what is causing the problem. A piece of paper, for instance, might be blocking the paper path. 
If paper is feeding through the printer but coming out blank, check to see whether the printer is out of toner or ink. A defective toner or ink cartridge could be the problem.

Chances are you have a buildup of toner on the charge corotron. This is a part of the copier that charges the drum to accept toner. If there's buildup of toner inside or on the grid of the corotron then the charge will be erratic or excessive and cause the paper to jam as it passes by the drum.

Check your user manual on how to properly remove and clean/replace the corotron.

Clean the inside of the printer using the cleaning rod. See page 48 of the user manual.
Open front cover,
Pull out lever on the right side. This opens the access window cover on the right side of the printer.
Inside this access window is the cleaning rod handle. Pull it out and push it back in several times to clean printer.
When done push the rod back in and push the lever on the front right panel back in. Close the front cover and you're done.
Do this every time you replace the black toner.

Error 116-324 keeps coming up. i have turned machine on and off, what do I do?

1. Power off the printer using the power switch located on the right side of the printer, toward the back. Press the power switch to the off (O) position. 2. Remove all interface cables (network cable). 3. Power on the printer. Press the power switch to the on (') position. Keep interface cables disconnected. 4. Print a Configuration Page. 5. Clear all jobs from source print queue. (Network Server or USB)
The above means to delete ALL print jobs from your computers, if you have several people printing to the device they must delete all their jobs as well. 6. Reconnect interface cables after step 5 is performed.

If this deosn't resolve the issue you will have to call Xerox and request a service technician to go onsite to resolve the problem. In some cases if this doesn't fix the problem it means you have a bad network card.

Xerox troubleshooting

Either there is a fault contition that makes the printer reboot or a faulty power supply switching the printer on and off. In the second case it means you need to replace the electronics module as an assembly. This is a very expensive part.

It is trying to save battery power. Just turn it off yourself when you finish. Read the manual and try to discover if there is a way to choose the idle time before it powers down.

Solution : Power Off the Printer, Wait 45 Seconds, Then Power On the Printer Some problems can be resolved by powering the printer OFF and ON.
WARNING: Only use the power switch on the printer to power the printer OFF and ON. Damage may occur to the printer if power is interrupted by other means.
CAUTION: When cycling power on the printer, any incomplete jobs in the queue will be lost and will have to be resent.
  1. Power OFF the printer using the power switch located on the top, right side of the Control Panel.

  2. Wait approximately 45 seconds, then power ON the printer.

My Xerox Workcentre PE120i screen says [no paper] "Add paper". but the tray is full of paper. What do you suggest I do?


This is a fairly common problem with most printers. It is generally caused by something confusing the sensor that detects the paper.

1) Remove all the paper from the printer.
2) Switch off the printer and unplug from the mains for 30-45 seconds
3) Switch printer on
4) Put in paper
5) Try and print!

Most of the time this will cause the printer to "reset" itself and should print fine.

Receiver turns off in a few secondsafter switching on

read in the manual and reset the system. if it still doesnt turn on, then it has to be taken in for repair. same thing happened to mine

Xerox 8500 had power surge now it will not reset itself

You will need to reset the Xerox using the reset function (look under the diagnostics menu).

Keeps running

:) No there is no switch!!! Try to get out toner cartridge shake it well!!! Turn printer on without cartridge! See the USB or LPT connection are OK!!! It's Fuser who make this problem or his sensor!! When you turn printer on he must reach 180C. Because of that printer is checking so long!
