Hi, I see this a lot. it seems that not all BT devices are created equal, and differing handshaking routines can cause many problems.
You see most, all?, manufacturers have what we call "Golden Lists" now these lists dictate exactly which BT headsets work, Now, unless a HS is specified on that list, it most often simply will NOT work.
This is especially true when trying to pair an older type HS, with a newer type smartphone.
If your phone picks it up but will not pair, then usually there is NO WAY to make it happen, it is a handshaking issue that unless the device(s) were re-coded cannot be surmounted. (As an aside here some manufacturers give out firmware updates, that may allow usage for the HS or Phone, this is worth a check?)
BT devices "Just work" and if they don't then usually that's it.. you need one that "Just works".
I have heard that sometimes doing a Factory Re-set to the Phone, and then after rebooting immediately attempt pairing sometimes may work? (But be careful as you loose everything when you FR)
So my professional advice to you is to find out exactly what Head Set WILL work, with your new smartphone, and obtain that one. perhaps you can sell your existing one to offset costs?
