Val,
Unplug your microwave and turn it around and remove the screws holding cover on and then remove the cover. Be very careful about touching electrical connections because there can still be some live current stored in the capacitor. Look for where the power cord goes into the back of the unit and follow the black wire from the cord to where it ends. It should stop an either a circuit board or a fuse holder. Make sure that you replace the fuse with the same amperage fuse as what you take out. You will find the amp rating stamped on one of the silver collars on each end of the fuse. Good luck!

Hello,

I regularly repair Amana commercial microwave ovens.

  • What is the FCC ID number from the tag?

  • What is the Manufacturing number (like P76695, etc.)?

  • Is it making any unusual noises?

  • Is it running quieter or louder than usual?

Amana microwave reset button?

Does the power panel have anything on it?? If not. it probably has a burnt fuse inside the unit, one year old should have a warranty on it Check out places that work on microwaves.

Replace the cover as it is obviously dirty with carbonised food particles. Don't use it without a new Wave Guide Cover or permanent damage to the magnetron/aerial may result.

Microwave went POP and stopped.

probably not the fuse. If it is, then something caused it to blow as a fuse is a safety device. Since microwaves can be dangerous due to the radio waves, here is what I've done in the past. I had Sears come out and diagnose the problem. Before tech left, I told him I don't have the money to fix it now but will do it in a month or two. I had him write down the parts I needed and the part numbers so when I do want it fixed, I do not have to start at ground zero. He was glad to help. I watched everything he did, and since I work on commercial microwaves, amana, it was no problem for me to order the parts and do the repairs myself. My microwave is a 1200 watt over my stove.
Keep in mind that microwaves are getting so cheap, that you may want to look into just what a replacement will cost.

Possible fuse -- no power

Replacing a fuse Locate your fuse. Most microwave fuses look like the one pictured to the left. They are usually an inch or two long. Each end is metallic and the center is either ceramic or glass.
To get to the fuse, remove the outer cabinet of the unit, which is usually held in place with a few screws. Once the outer cabinet is removed, follow the power cord into the unit. It will take you to the fuse holder, where the fuse sits. The fuse holder is located two or three inches into the unit, and may be attached to a power board.
Decide if your fuse is blown. A blown glass fuse will produce flash burn marks on nearby surfaces, or it will be completely black on the inside. The internal fuse wire (filament) will be melted and blackened. Ceramic fuses give no outward signs of having blown. To determine if a ceramic fuse is blown, test it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is fine. A reading of infinite ohms means your fuse is blown.
Replace the blown fuse. Pop it out of its holder and snap in a new one. You can squeeze the fuse clips together with your fingers in order to tighten their grip. Replace the unit's outer cabinet, plug it back in, and test to see if it is running properly. DO NOT run the microwave with nothing in it.
NOTE: Fuses do not usually blow on their own. A fuse may blow because of problems with the interlock switches or with high voltage circuitry. It is also possible, though rare, that a power surge will cause a fuse to blow.
