Need to diagnose by opening the cover to the control section and check power (24volts) where the thermostat wires connect. Check for power between terminals C and R, it should have 24 volts. Check for power between C and Y, it should be 0 volts. If there is voltage from C to Y, the thermostat is calling for cooling. If the voltage from C to Y is zero and compressor still running, the compressor contactor may still be energyzed, check for power to the coil of the compressor contactor, it should be 0 volts, if there is voltage there, the wiring has shorted and need to locate the fault. If the voltage is 0 volts, the compressor contactor is stuck or the contacts are welded together shut and needs replacing.
Some electrical skill level needed to work on live wiring, safety precautions taken. If you may, disconnect the power to the unit and inspect the compressor contactor, exercise it, the plunger should move in and out freely, a cover small contacts cover can be removed for visual inspection of the contacts, welded, burnt, stuck shut are some conditions that can be found with the compressor contactor.

How do i fix ac blower on heat stays on after unit goes off what is the problem

If the unit shuts off after a few minutes when the heat shuts that is normal. If it never shuts off; you may have a bad fan relay in the air handler.

The compressor should turn on after it cools. It shuts down if it overheats to prevent damage/fire. The compressor itself could be bad but more than likely the fan is dead.

Ocasionally when the compresser shuts down the bloower keeps running and the compresser wil not start up untill we reset the thermostat

the blower fan will usually run for a short while on after the compressor kicks off on most systems. this is due to the colloection of condensation in the evaporator coil. running the fan will evaporate the remaining water on the coil, therefore it will not flood the drain lines.

Keeps running after shutting off-does not react to temperature co

it is normal for the system to run on its own without being turned on...the compressor motor needs to cool down and will run in an unloaded state. feel the back of the unit while its running and you will notice the amount of heat the motor generates. let it run.

Compresser continues to run after the fan kicks off

Turn the unit off before you damage your compressor. You probably have a contactor that is stuck in the closed position. You will need a new contactor. Be carefull if you try to replace it yourself. You will be dealing with both high and low voltage. If you wire it wrong you could damage the a/c or more importantantly you could hurt yourself.........

Compresser Shuts Off

It may be overcharged now. Let some of it out until it stays running.
Why did you add freon? if it needed freon then you must also have a leak or a bad compressor
What was the issue with the a/c to lead you to putting in freon?
