A windows update seems to have altered all my Function keys F1 through F12. I use these a lot as shortcut keys and want to restore them to how they were before - please, how do I do this (Windows 8)

TRy using the restore point that windows set just before the update. search for 'restore point', select the date/time you want and restore it to that time.

Do i need to disconnect charger for a factory restore?

If you plan to restore or alter the OS in any way. ALWAYS have the charger powering the machine. If the power fails due to an exhausted battery, the system will be destroyed.

"sort by" ie distance or price on ebay is not working

On the right hand side of Ebay page you will see a sort by with a drop down list you might have to change it 2 times to get it to respond in the way you want it set soonest cheapest.

Above the drop down list in top right corner will be an Advanced tab where you can alter settings ending within hour ,postage nearest , items with in range .......

Hope this helps

You should have multiple restore dates if you have allowed the system to watch over changes. If so, you may have to go back in time more than just a couple of days to get things back in order. Also, before (!) making any system changes, you should at least create a new restore point or at best, back up your drive completely. Tampering with the OS shouldn't be done lightly.

Hello, Is it possible to reset the BIOS without removing the battery? The battery is on the other side of the motherboard.

If you have attempted to change something in your BIOS so you cannot alter or change any settings because the computer won't boot up properly, unless you have a CMOS reset button on your motherboard the only other way if you can't get into BIOS is to remove the CMOS battery, the CMOS battery is never on the otherside of the motherboard because all the connectors are always on one side of a motherboard

the CMOS battery is a silver flat battery, much like a thing watch battery, remove this battery for 15 seconds so there is no residual power left in the motherboard and then reinsert and reboot your computer

if you can get into BIOS there should be a restore to factory defaults settings in there somewhere.

I believe a belt fell off my car, making the steering extremely difficult, and also causing my red generator light to blink on and off. Can I still drive the car short distances without hurting the...

M mostly an expert on passat v6 engines but the it was the timing belt you wouldn't be going an inch over. M not sure if it use the same belt as timing belt but base on what you are describing yes the belt or fluid ( power steering) seem to be fault. No I would not drive it because of serious safety reason and also damage to steering parts and pump. if that belt broken off or damage that mean you timing could be on it's way. When that happen say good buy to the motor. The altering isn't charging the battery there for would show bad alternator sign. If the same belt turn the fan( if u have one) pump, ac, could signal those errors.

Replace motherboard battery..... what after i mean the BIOS settings

when the CMOS battery is replaced the default Bios settings are retained, if u made any custom changes to Bios then u will need to do them again, things like boot menu processor speed settings ect. are you clear on this, 99% of time it changes nothing since most users don't even know what Bios is or how to alter it.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 Battery Problem

You say that this has been happening with a wired mouse as well?
In that case, you probably have a kind of virus/malware. Try this first:
Do a full system scan. You may have to temporarily disable/uninstall your current anti-virus if you have one already..
If not, try a system restore.
