Try to contact a website where they sell it, like ebay. It it is a vintage machine, take a photo and visit an anticuary store. They might help you

Bernina Record 730 - made in 1965ish. Recently he has started sewing very slowly although the bobbin winder worked normally. We cannot find out why this is happening.

Oh, no! Do NOT give up on your oldie but goodie! The symptoms are common with older mechanical machines. These machines are wonderful and deserve to be given another chance. Most often, the old oil solidifies and causes the moving parts to seize. With persistence, patience, and a couple of very simple supplies, many of these machines are happily sewing again. The secret is a combination of Tri-Flow and heat and making sure that "all" the moving parts get lubed, even the stitch levers and dials. I have resurrected several older Berninas using the following technique. Several completely seized machines required multiple repetitions over a period of days. If the machine does not have any cracked gears, most likely it can be made worthy again and make your grandmother proud that she gave you such a lasting, wonderful gift.

Resist the temptation to try to run the motor until the machine has gone through a thorough "treatment" and is moving freely manually. Once the machine is moving freely, you will rejoice at the happy and satisfied sound it makes!

Good luck with your lovely!

My grandmother left me this machine. I'm trying to find out if its worth anything. Excellent condition original cabinet.

you didn't mention the name and model number of the machine, so my suggestion is to look on ebay and see if you can find one that looks like the machine you have.

I was recently given a Euro-ProShark Automatic model 417 to use w/my quilting group at church. It is missing the manual, power cord and presser foot. Can you help me find out? Thanks.

Check out the foot controls at http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/search.aspx?find=Euro+Pro+foot+control. They have a diagram at the top of each of the selections showing what the connection looks like. I looked at each of the Euro Pro Models that the foots are compatible with, but didn't find the 417. I found models close to it. But if you find a connection type that is the same, it should work. Make sure of the return policy before you order, just in case.

As far as the presser foot goes, a universal type presser foot fits nearly any machine I've ever dealt with and heard of in 30+ years of sewing. I still use my grandmother's universals from 60+ years ago on a machine that's computerized and only 3 years old, if that gives you an idea! Check out your local Joann's or Hancock Fabrics or local sewing store. Even ordering online for a universal presser foot will do you just fine. You can look on the same web site as for the foot control at http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/search.aspx?find=Universal+presser+foot for one.

I need a new sewing foot as the lower part of mine has fallen off do you know where I can get one

Most sewing machines can use a universal foot, meaning you can buy the foot at nearly anyplace that sells sewing supplies. I'd suggest removing the foot from your machine and taking it with you to your local Joann's/Hancock Fabrics or small shop (check your yellow pages or Yahoo!Local) and ask them to give you a hand. They can look at the foot you have and help you see if a universal foot will fit.

I've never heard of a machine that doesn't use a universal foot-in my 30+ years of sewing, I'm still using the universal foots from my grandmother's 50+ year old tailoring machine! And I know have a computerized embroidery machine that's only 3 years old! But do be on the sure side and go into a store if you can.

Hi Evelyn,
I too have an J-C34 Riccar sewing machine. It was my grandmother's. I'm looking for a copy of the owner's manual. Do you have one?
