I need help recovering my EL 1200 emachine, when I boot it up it says that PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable. I don't know what it is talking about. What can I do to get booted up. I don

check all data and power leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have dust free secure connections
if its a flat 40 pin ribbon type it will be the first to fail

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

hope this helps

My asus Eee 1005 wont boot up unless i go to safe mode with networking, how do i fix this so I can boot up normally without using safe mode?

If it is booting up in safe mode and not booting up normally then it could be a driver fault or some sort of spyware virus.
Try using system restore in safe mode to restore the laptop to a time when it was working fine.
goto start bar, click on run and type msconfig, in here you can choose anystart up programs or services you dont need or use and stop them from starting, make sure you are positive you are stoping programs that you know are on your mechine.
Dont restart yet goto my computer c:drive, goto the windows folder and find a folder called prefetch open this folder and delete all of it contents, once done close out of all windows and restart the pc in normal mode hopfully the problem will be solved.
hope this helps and please post back what happens.

Method 4 : If none of the above workor you are able to boot it. Then download "Hiren's Boot CD"

Here is the link

Download the file and burn the ISO image in a CD.Boot your system using that CD. It has lots of tools for repairing Windows, system restore, Data recovery etc.Check if it can fix your problem.

If Hiren's Boot CD can't fix it then Backup all your important datas and go for a new install.

Acer aspire 5100 stops at agpcpq.sys and keeps rebooting. Will not boot up normally, safe mode, or any other way. Booted off of install CD and ran chkdsk /r. No luck.

Hi,
Boot from the CD again and this time run chkdsk /f
This command will try to fix any errors with the file system and check for and recover bad sectors.

Hope this helps.
