Not all equipment is plug and play. Find the manufacture of your mouse and keyboard and download the correct drivers for your operating system. (Windows 7, 8, XP) then find your device manager in your control panel and update your drivers for your keyboard and mouse. The answer that told you to pair them would fall under the category of a Bluetooth keyboard. I don't think that's what you have. Last but not least is it at all possible you have an incompatible keyboard that is for a Macintosh computer (Apple)

if you didnt get the kb/mouse with your machine then a good idea from julia was ( it could be the wrong kb/mouse made for an apple pc which is bluetooth )but as the original post was about an acer z1-621, acer themselfs say "The keyboard and mouse will work when plugged in. There is no setup required on the computer." so plug and play as with any kb/mouse on a windows system so the posters problem is with kb/mouse not pc. you have a usb port on the back of your system to which you must plug something in which was supplied with your item ? then you will have a pair button so the plugged in item can pair with your kb/mouse ? ( most wires dongles can pick up most wireless k/b so we have to show it which one is ours "pair them ")hope this helps

Any wireless k/b and mouse will work. first make sure the batteries in them are good. then you need to plug in either the mouse or the dongle that came with them into a usb port on pc ( to pick up the signal from them ) then you will have to "pair" them ( look on your keyboard and you will see a "pair" botton ,this could be under it or very top of k/b? you need to hold that button in untill the light stops flashing . once paired there should be no reason for them not to work .

There's no dongle and no a "pair" button at all.:(

dose your mouse sit in a cradle ? then the cradle plugs into your pc ? then that is the receiver ( dongle ) when you type on K/B the mouse cradle should have a light that blinks ? with each button pressed ? this will show if K/B is working. if no light then check batteries. anything wireless for pc/laptops must have a receiver plugged into the pc/laptop to pick up the signal from the device. check receiver is plugged in and theres power to wireless device ? hope this helps

the word i used "pair" is also known as synchronize...here is a site which will guide you( your receiver may look different but you will have something that plugs into the usb port )

"with “software”. The software is merely for the hot keys (typically addtional keys on the top row) of the keyboard "

Strange that BOTH stopped working. Did you check batteries?
Remove USB controller for mouse and test keyboard alone,
Then replace mouse and remove keyboard USB You should use another keyboard (USB or PS2) because your computer won't start up without a keyboard.
If both fail, test them on some othrer computer, ask a friend. Might take sust seconsds to do it.
If test on other computer shows ok, you may have some problem in USB ports.
If actually neither of them work anywhare, so no way but still interesting question, how both of them went bad at same time?
Actually I 've heard many complaints of these wirelss keyboards and Mouse. Probably there are some very bad quality around.
I had a wireless mouse and worked only for about 3 months.

The reason I can start my PC is it's a touchscreen pc. My mouse is blinking all the time, but the keyboard not responding, both are not detected.

Hey in the control panel, go to the mouse, then look for the properties that have a PS/2 compatible mouse, you can change its settings there by sellecting other compatible mouse instead of PS/2, and also there is a settings or a check box that says the onboard mouse of your laptop will be disable if a usb mouse will be pluged.hope it soved your problem, :)

try resetting the BIOS to defaults. Also, make sure the wireless KB and Mouse works by testing it in another PC. Acer might be aware of this issue, so try calling them if those ideas do not help.

Hi my wireless keyboard & mouse do not work at all on my Acer Aspire M3970, but both a cable keyboard & mouse do?

There is a USB receiver underneath the battery panel of the mouse, although it looks like part of the workings of the mouse. It's only a very small thing with a USB plug on it but it is there. The instructions don't show a picture of it, so it's very easy to think you haven't got one until you look closely

Unclip it and put it in your USB port and it should come up.

Wireless mouse and keyboard not working

If you have got a USB receiver for the wireless keyboard and mouse, then the solution might be with the receiver. Normally we know that to play a USB thumb drive, we simply plug in and play. But some model of Acer computer require us to press the button on the thumb drive to activate it. The model I had (an Aspire model) set the press button same as the blicking light bulb. So (a) turn on computer, (b) plug in thumb drive receiver (c) press button on the drive, (d) press "contact" button on the mouse and keyboard. That works for me.
