D5 error

Error code D5 OR DS is the same. Its mostly DS which looks like D5. The D5 error is actually DS. The code means the washer thinks the door is open or unlocked during the cycle. The door has to be checked. Is it getting properly close/open.If its getting close/open then the problem is related to faulty door locking assembly. But if its not getting proper close then there is any blockage causing the door to close or the door lock latch is faulty causing this problem.

Hope helps.

Water was seeping thru the front opening while weasher was not in use. not an external leak. turned off both water suppiles and the water leak stopped. siounds to me like an internal valve leak

you need to change out the water valve on the washer.open the door and look for the model number.call your parts store and give them the full model number off of the washer, look around the opening on the frame where the door closes into and they will sell you the correct part

Why does my ge front load washer leak from the door and will this be expensive to fix?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @21:10 Sat evening.

I think that we can only presume that the rubber sealing ring has been damaged, that is if the door is closing properly. If it is not closing properly the microswitch which senses if it is closed or not requires adjustment- which I think is less likely than the damaged rubber surround to the drum.
Sorry but I would not be able to guess what it would cost from where-ever (?) you live. It would have to be changed anyway unfortunately ;-0(

Best of luck,

Front load washer leak

This could be the rubber seal or the door lock. If the door lock is not pulling it tightly closed then it needs to be replaced. Check the seal really closely and make sure there are not cracks and it does not look deformed

Washing Machine smell

The problem comes from the design of the front load washers. There is always a little water left in the tub after the machine is used. Running a bleach load will deal with the mildew until the machine is used again. I leave the door open when I am not using my washer, and this does help.

Rubber Seal Holds Mold!

This is a problem that seems to show up on almost every front-loading washer due to the design of the rubber boot that attaches to the front of the machine. It is extremely important to wipe down the rubber after usage but even this doesn't always help. There are a couple of products out there that claim to get rid of the mold and smell, something called Purewasher that you could look up on www.smellywasher.com and also something that whirlpool sells for this purpose.
