Protect usually means there is a short in the amplifier circuit that will need to be repaired.

Google search your manufacturer make and model and the word manual. If one is available, you can find it in the search results.

SOURCE: why does my harmon kardon reciever keep protecting

Check the speaker wires.
Make sure your ohm loads are stable especially if you are using more than one pair of speakers to any output.
Check the starting volume.

Harmon Kardon Receiver "Protect" Mode issue

If your receiver enters protect mode with no speakers connected, it is an indication that you will have to start troubleshooting inside. This will involve visual checking and checking with a multimeter to isolate the problem. A further issue is finding out why your JBL woofer keeps blowing fuses. It could be shorted.

When i turn on my harmon kardon avr 165 it shows ''Protect'' and then it turns off again?? what can i do :)

I would try disconnecting the speakers, then turn it on. If protect still shows with no speakers connected, then it needs to go to the repair shop- Might be a blown power transistor.

How to bi wire polk rti a7 using avr 1600 harmon kardon reciever

You mean "buy-wiring"?

Before you go investing in boutique speaker cable (times two) read up on biwiring.

It's a bogus electrical theory to get you to buy more speaker wire.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bi-wiring

I don't see that capacity on this receiver.

Looks like the Power relay is switching off and on by itself. Chances are that a power capacitor might be going weak. Get in touch with a Harmon technician to fix this.

Harmon Kardon AVR300.**protect** blinks when powered on.Took cover off no obvious problem.Disconnected EVERYTHING from back panel, still blinks **PROTECT**.

The protect message means that the outputs are shorted. This is a fairly common problem that can easily be fixed by any shop that handles audio gear. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$40 range.
