Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
My son laptop is freezing up everytime. Once it gets turned on and windows XP loads and goes to desktop. If you try to click any link on the desktop it locks up. I also notice that the intel wireless icon is not found
in its usual place. I tryed starting it in safe mode and it seems the computer doesn't lock up when you run it in safe mode but I can't get online
to get support in safe mode. Anybody have any Ideas what I can do?????? I tried to restore setting to an earlier date and that didn't fix the problem.
Yeah run a good online trojan , spyware and antivirus check
you can start in safemode with network support and do those scan assuming you are on cable or dsl via a lan card
I would run all 3 if it was me
Hope that is helpful

Hijackthis is a first line tool to examine certain areas of the computer. It does not show everything and lots of malware is hidden from it
To download Hijackthis
go to http://www.merijn.org/programs.php and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows
mode you are using. If an existing problem does not reappear when you
start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic
device drivers as possible causes.
If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can
use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try
starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in
your Startup folder, one by one, to see if a program might be the
cause of the problem.
If your display works in safe mode then you have a video driver issue or virus or software issue.
