There is either something on your cid/ccd unit under the glass. You may have something on the glass,or there could be a sratch on the thermal print head.Inspect each unit, it is usualy something easy.

SOURCE: faded prints about 2" in from the margin

Greetings!

{You used the term "drum". This may indicate a roll type of toner rather than a cartridge style of toner. The following tip is for a cartridge style.}

I get much the same symptom when my HP laser cartridge is running low, and no, it doesn't have a "low toner" indicator either. I get by a little longer with mine, long enough to get out and buy a new one that is, by removing it, holding it over a garbage can at an angle and firmly tapping on it to loosen any compacted toner. I then turn it back horizontally and gently shake it back and forth to evenly distribute the remaining toner through the cartridge and reinsert it into the printer. This usually gets me nice, even prints back and extends the life of the cartridge. I can usually get a few extra weeks out of it by doing this two or three times.

Good luck!
Rob

SOURCE: black line down one side of paper

Lift the auto feeder cover and clean the narrow glass that the originals are scanned across...sounds like you have some dirt there -maybe correction fluid? That's the most common.
Please rate me :)

Faded print on right side of page. When I copy/print in black, why is the black print faded on the right side of the paper?

Your toner cartridge may be the culprit.
Take the cartridge out and shake sideways and up/down. Reinstall it and try again.
If it's still printing faded side, replace the cartridge.

Dell 1110 faded print left side

If you have trid a different toner cartridge, then I would first try a new drum (not sure if toner & drum are in same cartridge, some are so you will have to check that) If not that, then I would suggest the transfer roller bar would be my next suspect if the printer has a lot of copies done on it.

I can't get my Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W printer to print a Word document. The printer was working a couple of days ago. There is an "error" in the Control Panel window & the print window...

I take a picture using a screen capture program/app then print the picture. It also make it possible to overlay things such as the (faded) word (COPY) on top or underneath it, if you want. When I use the COPY method, I print the faded word COPY first then re-run the paper through to print the rest

I have a HP 7590 printer and it sometimes skips line or some of the lines are faded when printing black .

Perform the following steps to reduce or eliminate faded or grainy lines:
  1. Print at a higher quality setting.
  2. Verify that the paper you are printing on will lay flat. Paper that is not laying flat can cause banding when the paper transitions over the rollers or cause the print cartridges to scrape across the surface of the page. Check the top sheet of paper by removing it from the all-in-one and placing it on a flat surface. If the paper does not lie flat, bend it in the opposite direction to straighten it. It will copy but the it will light and faded. Hard to read.

Too much moisture in the paper will cause blotchy, light and faded print. Run the copy through a second time on the reverse side. If the second side is good you have a paper moisture problem. (Usually happens in non-airconditioned spaces during humid periods if the paper has been stored in the open.) Hope this helps.
