Keep getting unsupported when I put disc in

Not all disc players will play all the different types on the market. Some DVD's will only play in certain areas of the world. This is called region coding. The number of this is found on the back of the player and on the disc or case it comes with. If you have a region 2 player it can only play 2 discs. It is possible to make some DVD players play another region or all. Search the web for information on how to change the region code on your model DVD player.
Another thing that will cause that response is using a "+" or "-" disc type in a machine that can only play one type.
Yet another cause is dirt on the disc or lens of the player.

No picture, no sound

see the troubleshooting index:God bless you

No sound
1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.
5. If the DTS soundtrack is enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc Menu.

Does not play disc
  1. No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
  2. Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
  3. Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
  4. Disc type is not the correct type to play.
  5. Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
  6. Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.

Toshiba SD3950SU quit reading discs after playing an old disc. It will still play the old disc

The optical pickup unit might need replacement. Visit this site for more details. Type in the site name "Electro-help" either Google or Yahoo search box [not in the address bar of your browser], and click search. It is an electronic equipments service help site. All details you want are there. Note the position of hyphen in between words in site name, when you type it in. The site will appear as it is in web; subtitled as Service help to electronic home entertainement equipments.

Pull up older posts. You can get all details.

Site is listed in Google, and you can locate it either at the bottom part of first search page, or at the top of second page.

Click on associated ads too. Sometimes, it might help you.

Fisher tad m70 10 disc cd player compact disc searches and won't play a disc, no disc found

I have that same model bought new in 1993. Once I had the same problem - I used one of those CD cleaning disc left it unplugged for a few hours and then it worked. But if the laser needs alignment - then it needs to be re-aligned/serviced by a tech.

Minidisc problem

Only just seen your question whilst trawling for old unanswered questions.

My answer will be way too late for you, but may be of benefit to others searching the site.

You didn't state the make and model of MiniDisc player, but the symptoms are classic indicators of a failed playback head.

Sadly, it's irreparable. It's definitely not a DIY job, the parts will almost certainly be impossible to find, and even if you can, will cost more than obtaining a replacement model.

I'd suggest that you search or post a request on your local FreeCycle/Freegle group (first postings must always be to offer something, but you can reply to existing offers straight after joining). Failing that, you can pick a unit up very cheaply on auction and classified sales websites.

It doesnt play cd-r disc which i burn

This is a common problem. Unfortunately, there are a number of CD players that will not play burnt CDs. There's really no way to fix this. The best bet is to do a google search on the model you wish to buy beforehand and find out if others have complained about it not playing CD-Rs. Unfortunately, it's a bit late for that advice to help you.
