Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

The pilot of my Dearborn model #DRC40FM will stay on alone indefinitely. Recently, when I turn the heater 'on' it reacts normally but soon flames AND pilot go out. Ideas as to the cause? Thanks.

I use propane. I've used my heater for years and love it. This is a new problem. I relight pilot and then the flames...and both will eventually go out.The duration varies. I'd appreciate help. Thanks.

It sounds like a bad thermocouple, just clean it with sand paper, if it don't keep the flame then replace the valve.

My gas Dearborn model#drc40mc pilot light stays lit.when I turn to on position and heater comes on , it burns high , even on low number setting, then after few seconds goes out taking pilot out also

clean/replace the flame sensor. Your heater doesn't recognize that it has lit and continues to try and light the gas. when the sensor doesn't tell the 'brain' it lit? it shuts down the gas for safety reasons.

Janitrol GUPS075-3 Furnace burners will not stay lit

The first thing I would do is make sure the flame sensor is clean, this is a metal rod immersed in the burner flame on the opposite side of the igniter. If too much oxidation builds up on it, it will not allow the burner to stay lit. To clean, just turn off furnace and remove flame sensor and clean with steel wool and then reinstall. If this does not solve the problem there may be a problem with the gas valve.

I have an old dearborn drc40fm gas heater that the knob is gone and so I don't have writing to tell me where "pilot" and "on" are. It says to depress and turn to pilot and then light...

off, pilot then on. moving cockwise, push and depress in pilot to lite, hold long enough to warm up therm-couple safety switch to allow gas to stay on to pilot then turn to on to let gas go to burners. highly suggest a new vavle as it a safety issue to operate in this manner, but its cold and this will get you by for now, good luck

My name is Larry and I have an older model Vanguard natural gas wall heater. Igniter works and pilot lights, but pilot will not stay lit no matter how long I keep the control pushed down. As soon as I...

The part is ordered by Model number, a serial number is no help, and yes there is a part called the flame sensor that allows the gas to stay on, I am sure if you contact a local supplier they can provide a suitable substitute gas valve or sensor if it is a stand alone part, on most the sensor is part of the gas valve. I think you will end up having a local shop try and match up the valve.

Dyna glo tag along propane heater pilot stays on but when turning

sounds like either a bad thermocouple or more likely a pressure regulator problem. should have unit checked by someone familiar with propane systems.

How to light the pilot on a dearborn room heater

Turn the knob to PILOT. press the knob down. Light the pilot and hold the knob till the pilot stays lit by itself. Then advance the knob to the ON position. Turn up the thermostat.

My dayton NG heater fan will not shut off properly

Sounds like a bad fan switch. The switch is located on the heat exchanger and is 110 volt bi-metal switch. Follow the wires from the blower going back to the heatexchanger. Graingers can get you a new switch if you give them your model number. www.grainger.com.

Pilot lites; but, as soon as I turn on gas flame

sounds like your thermacouplar is going out and needs replaced. Sometimes these will act like they are working fine , but when the pilot stays on for awhile and later goes out it is a sure sign that it is bad

The yhernocoupler would snuff the pilot if bad. What ignites the overhead burners? and what regulates the overhead gas supply? Look into this. Too much gas will not light as easily as proper balance gas and air. Even more so in a tower type heater.. Turn the gas on low and the pilot should grab it. Good luck
