Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Sometimes water won't flow on certain timer settings. And sometimes starts, then stops.

When setting the timer for initial fill for wash, some categories won't start the water (cotton = no fill, knit = fill, prewash = fill, perm. press = no fill). Timer makes the usual clock-tick noise. And sometimes the flow will start, then stop, then start. Seems fairly consistent on different wash categories.

i think your timer control switch
has carbonized contacts...

so perhaps the contactors are blasted a bit

either this or look for a new program control

Hello. my Lavamat 74500 update does not start the wash cycle. everythig is on, door locks but nothing happens.

sounds like a water fill problem to me, normally at start of cycle door locked, program set, start water solenoid opens and fills machine with water, once water reaches set level heater will come on and wash program will commence,
so if you have a restriction in the water supply/ water tap not turned on correctly, on blockage in water solenoid valve water flow to machine will be restricted causing a long delay before machine starts, things to try
1. make sure hose connection water valve is fully open
2.open soap draw to see / if you can hear water flowing into machine,
3 if its very slow you have a restriction in water supply
could be a twist in water supply hose, causing a restriction
all above is if machine is taking to long to fill with water,
good luck .

Fills with water, drains, will not spin. sometimes will not fill

This is almost certainly the filter to the empty pump blocked. When you power up the machine, the first thing it does is make sure there is no water left over in the tub, if it can't evacuate any water it finds there, it won't go any further. Same on a spin, if after a set time the water hasn't emptied the empty cycle will stop but the spine cycle wont start because there is still water in the drum.

Locate and clean your empty pump filter.

When we run a wash cycle, we get no water.

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Fysher and Paykel smart drive 051. takes ages to start. cold water flow seems ok. takes 2-3 times longer for full cycle. sometimes stops and hot water light flashes. yours, jagrat.

Hi just read your posting. Now what water temp have you selected for wash?Is it cold, warm, or hot?Sounds like a water flow problem to me.The water valves on your model of machine sometimes sound like they are filling correctly but they only let a little bit of water in.How long does it take to fill your machine and start agitating when you have selected low water level? Please reply with additional information and I am sure I can help you rectify this fault.Looking forward to your reply.

Washer fills then stops

there are contacts that are in the timer that get arched and don't make good contact. also there is a set down by the motor that sometimes mess up and stop working you can use some emery cloth to clean the contacts. good luck.

Washing machine stuck in fill cycle

It certainly sounds like the water level switch acting up. Do a couple of other checks first. Make sure you are not siphoning on the initial fill. Check your drain hose and make sure there is an air gap to the drain pipe. If you don't have a gap sometimes it will fill and siphon right out. Next would be to examine the level switch hose that runs to the tub. You want to make sure that there is no pin hole leaks in it causing this problem. Once you are satisfied the drain and tubing is ok, get another piece of tubing the same size and blow into the level switch when the machine is acting up. If the water stops, you can be almost certain it is the switch. Part number...3366847. It's important to do these checks because I have seen timers on this model mimic the water level switch.
