Food does not seem to be cooking properly. Did a pork roast and it came out dry and tough. Make tortelli soup and the celery and carrots were still hard.

You might need to freeze your meats if you have then you need to probably go with a different temperature on your oven by setting it to 350 degrees instead of 450 that could probably be why the meat is overcooking always baste your meat in juices from the meat use a turkey baster that can help or add more water to your meat and vegetables that takes more time for the meat to cook but the product will come out more juicer.

Note: The cooking time is dependent upon the weight of the boneless pork leg. See below.

  • Allow the meat to come to room temperature before you cook it.
  • For good crackling: make sure the skin is very dry before you cook it. Put the joint in the fridge, uncovered, to help it dry out. Score the skin before roasting - this allows the fat from underneath to bubble up, crisping the skin as it does so. Use a Stanley knife or a very sharp kitchen knife and, taking care not to go through to the flesh, make incisions 1cm apart. Sprinkle the skin liberally with salt just before you put it into the hot oven. If salted too far in advance it will attract moisture.
  • Cooking time: start roasting pork at a high temperature (240°C/ fan220°C/gas 9 or as high as your oven will go) to get the heat through to the centre of the joint, and get the crackling off to a good start. After 20 minutes, reduce the temperature to 180°C/fan160°C/gas 4 and continue to roast for 25 minutes per 450g.
  • Knowing when pork is cooked: pierce the centre of meat from the underside of the joint with a fine skewer. There should be no traces of pink left in the juices. Clear juices indicate the pork is sufficiently cooked, but that the meat will still be beautifully moist.
  • Always leave meat to rest before carving.

This cut is long and narrow so cooking it for so many minutes per pound won't work. The best way is to use a probe thermometer. If the skin is on it, score it and pour a full kettle of boiling water over the skin. Pat dry and season it. The skin will come nice and crisp.

Roast in a preheated 500 degree (F) oven for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and roast for an additional 30 minutes per pound. Total cooking time for an 8lb roast should be about 4hrs and 20 minutes. Remove the pork roast from the oven and let rest for 30 minutes

Low and slow. Cook the pork roast looooow and slooooow. Trying to rush this cut of meat just isn't a good idea. Cook the pork roast in a slow cooker for anywhere from 8-10 hours. Brown it before cooking.

How is chicken noodle soup made?


When I make chicken soup I MAKE ALOT. So I will condense this recipe down to 4 servings. I use white and dark meat, so her we go: 3 chicken br**sts or 2 chicken br**sts and 2 thighs. Boil your chicken in a large pot,with 30 ounces of chicken broth or stock. When done take chicken out and add 2 diced medium carrots, 2 diced celery stalks, and 1 small onion. Boil the veggies until the carrots are tender. Some people like to saute the veggies in oil before they go into the soup, but I like doing it this way...it's your choice. And now you can cop your chicken or shred it back into the broth. Add 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper to it. If you want to add rice or noodles to your soup I suggest cooking them first until they are done then add them to your soup. Both of these ingredients take up the broth when they cook. You will end up with a mess and not soup. The noodles may end up mushy and the rice will consume all of your broth and it will eat more like a casserole than soup. If you want to add rice, add 1/2 cup of raw rice but add another 32 ounces of broth, same with 1 cup of noodles, but make sure the broth is boiling good before you add them.

Should I put water in the lower roaster pan that is underneath the removable pan?


Yes, a little water helps to keep your roast from drying out. You can also chop up some root vegetables into large dice as well and put them under there. Carrots, parsnips onions celery are all good. The roast juices fall on to them, make a fantastic gravy and also delicious on the plate. I do this often and the results are great.

Can it take meat and vegetables at the same time?


I make a great tender roast in crock pot with meat potatoes carrots onions put all of this in crock pot at one time add 1 cup water and one envelope dry onion soup mix mixed with another cup of water and pour over entire ingredients placed in crock pot . turn on med setting and cook for the day .It's a meal in one !

I use mine al the time,there is alot of recipes availble on he internet. My favorite is brown ( dust in flour) a pork of beek roast Put sliced onions on bottom. add dry onion soup.water/ and or diced whole canned tomatoes. Season.Ber sure you have enugh liquid say almost 1/2 up your roast, you can add potaoes,carrots what ever. I used a canof cream of mushroom soup, nof water siced mushrooms and 2 pagages of brown gravy, beef It turnout like beef Stogonaf. can't rally mess up. Just have fun. Cook how ever much time you have. 4- 10 hours
