That is because the internal counter for the Waste Ink Pads has reached its maximum. The printer is fine. Ideally, you should fit a Waste Ink Bottle drain device (simple and cheap) - check www.youtube.com to find a video to show how - most printers are covered by enthusiasts. You can reset the counter - if you are based in the USA, you can get a free reset utility for your model from their www.epson.com website. However, that will ONLY work with USA printers - meaning those that have a USA Serial Code. It cannot be used for even exactly the same printer model anywhere else in the World and trying to use, perhaps, a USA friend's number for same printer will simply get rejected when trying to install. If outside of USA, www.google.com a search for Waste Ink Counter and you will find a suitable (for your location) provider of a Waste Ink Counter reset utility for a small sum.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

If both lights are flashing, it means the Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink ("protection") counter has exceeded its limit. The Waste Ink Pads should be replaced as soon as possible. You can overcome this problem temporarily by using the SSC utility - download from
and reset the Protection Counter. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation. However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer. A copy of the service manual is available from a number of sellers - just Google "Epson C45 Service Manual". You will often find them
for sale very cheaply on E-Bay.

You actually need to change the ink absorber.
Heres a video on how its done on the R800.
Please refer to your manual for proper localization of the ink absorber.
Doing this will get you to move on

Yes, like I said before...I have the same problem with most of my EPSON printers. Buy a Printer not from EPSON. They are inferior quality.
