Dyson model DC07 the belt controlling the beater bar is not turning but does have tension

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for readers, use code: FIXYA10

I hope this was helpful.

Is there anyway to by pass the AC unit, when installing a new belt ?

There may be a compressor eliminator pulley kit for your car. Or if your compressor is locked up, replace the compressor with a used or rebuilt just for the sake of bearings. Or if a belt will clear with the compressor gone (or installed) , measure from your mark on one apex to the next pulley/ idler with the tensioner compressed more than halfway and add that distance to the remaining belt length between the marks and ransack the earth for one. Start with Graingers. Or try your parts supplier who took an oath not to try to match anything up. Here you'll have to ask to use the bathroom, and while in the back start measuring belts.

Trouble shoot a John Deere lx 188 clutch?

Sounds like new belt is jammed or something is out of place. Turn by hand and find out where the problem is. You can tell where the belt is stuck or jammed. Pull the key before you mess with stuff underneath the unit. I installed my belt the wrong way on my unit and ruined a new belt and it would not shift.. The shifter rod could have been dislocated when you installed the belt also.

My dyson dc33 beater bar won't turn

There are belts in the clutch, which is the lever you can move to adjust the vacuum from floor to tools. The belts become stretched and need to be replaced. You can purchase just the belts or purchase the clutch assembly with the belts installed. There is also a belt change tool that makes the job much easier to install because the new belts will be much tighter than the old belts. The parts are available from

It jumps and jerks when driveing it

Problem is more than likely a burnt belt. The belt gets smooth spots on it causing it to slip in the clutches. It really isn't too bad to access the belt.
1. Remove 4 bolts holding left footwell to frame, and bolts or clips holding the footwell to front and rear fender.
2. Remove footwell
2. Remove all screws on the clutch cover, loosen clamp on the cover breather
3. Pull clutch cover off to access clutches and belt
4. Slide belt over rear clutch to remove, may have to rotate rear clutch to aid in belt removal
5. Install new belt over front clutch first then slide over rear clutch while rotating rear clutch
6. Reassemble in reverse order
That should help if you're going to replace the belt on your own, and to keep the belt from glazing or burning again keep it in low gear while under heavy load. Whether it's going up hills, pulling, in the sand, or even putting around under 20 mph it's best to keep it in low gear. That will help get the most out of your belt. Hope it helps, Daniel.

OK - so you need to instal a new one! But before that, two questions: first - why did the old belt break? second - is your DC07 a model with or without a clutch?
Belts rarely break from simple old age; the usual problem with this vac is that the bearings in the brush roll get sticky, so it doesn't revolve freely. If this is the problem, it can sometimes be alleviated with a spray lubricant, but the only long term solution is to instal a new brush roll.
As for the clutch - if it's got one, there's a knob towards the front right of the floor unit. If it has one, the drive belt is integral with the clutch, and the whole unit has to be changed. If it has no clutch, then installing a new belt is simple. For excellent illustrated guidance, go to
