If completely original and in great shape, maybe a couple hundred. It wasn't a very high-end bike back when it was being built in 1979, but it was competitive with the Schwinns of the times.

2002 Cadillac Escalade - whining when up to speed / maintaining speed.

Hate to mention a failing transmission, but that is where
my money would go on a guess or bet

Most likely that noise is from the trans pump valves sticking

If the trans is from 2002 ,12 years old,you may as well just
pull it & rebuild it,IF that is the problem

Hi! I have a schwinn traveller 12 speed from the 80s...I just need some guidance on how to operate the different speeds! Hope you can help!

Web search "how to shift a bicycle" for videos. Nothing much has changed since the 80's except indexing is ubiquitous.

Operator manual for huffy crosswind bike grip shift

Look for the manufacturers name and model number on the gripshift and check at www.parktool.com. Look under derailleurs for repair tips which will give you an idea how they work. A twelve speed has six gears on the rear sprocket and two on the crank giving you a combination of twelve speeds. sheldonbrown.com is another good site with good articles and pictures.
