Question about Dell D220P 01 Optiplex AC/DC Adapter 220-Watt Power Supply HOW DO I USE THIS UNIT TO PROVIDE 12V STANDALONE POWER?

most power supplies have a switch for 120 and or 220 options just move the switch to what setting you want. most power supplies can be used as a stand a lone power supply, if not than you need to request for a 220 watt power supply the can be used as a stand alone for pc or computer use. most computer retail should have them in stock. look on line or at

How to test the electrical system of the generator for free

Ez test to determine if stator wiring is ok. This test works on generators that have two sets of 115v plugs and 220v plug. Use a 12v, 1amp ac power supply ( smaller ac power supply should work ok ). With generator not running, apply 12v to one of the 115v outlet plugs. Now verify 12v output voltage with meter at another 115v outlet on generator. Also verify that there is about twice the voltage at the 220 v outlet plug (should be about 20v - 24v) . If the adjoining 115 v outlet plug has no output or very little voltage or if the 220 volt plug has no output, most likely stator is damaged or breaker is off. If the stator is shorted voltage reading will be very low and power supply will heat up. If stator is open, there will be no voltage at second 115v plug or 220 v plug. If voltage is ok at the other outlet plugs as per test above then most likely problem is with voltage regulator, or brushes not making contact or armature winding open or just needs to be energized. Unplug the 12v power supply after test to prevent it from overheating. Most generators have two 115v windings that together power the 220v plug. When you energize one of the windings with the 12v power supply, the second 115v winding will be energized also and give you a voltage reading about equal to 12v. You will not damage the generator with this small voltage being input thru the plug. Good luck

I have philips hts8100 from usa , can I plug it in 220 volts or 110 volts

The Philips HTS8100 is designed to use 120 Volts AC. You could use a 220 Volt AC to 120 Volt AC Step Down transformer to power this using a 220 Volt outlet. Here is what you will need:

Our window AC unit stopped suddenly. Completely dead. The outlet has power. It's a 220V unit. LG window AC LW2510ER Any advise what it could be? Does it shut down when it's 100F outside? Thanks...

No - the outside temperature will not shut the AC down.
You say the outlet has power? Does it have the needed 220 volts? Most of the time 220 volts is on one switch, (that operates both 110 volt legs of power at the same time). - but sometimes each leg is on a separate breaker and if "one leg" trips you will still have power at the outlet (110 volts) but you won't have the needed 220 volts. While this is not likely - it is possible - so I would want to test the outlet with a voltage tester and determine the voltage. You might try checking in your breaker box and seeing if another breaker (110volt) is tripped. The same thing applies if you are dealing with fuses instead of breakers - determine the voltage at the outlet - and if you don't have 220 and only have 110 then look for a blown fuse or as I said above - a breaker tripped.
If you do have 220 at the outlet and nothing is running - I would be looking for an inline fuse of some sort within in the unit. Many of the newer units have them and they are usually easy to spot and all you have to do is to unscrew the fuse holder and replace the blown fuse. Be sure to have the power off when handling fuses.
Note: Be aware that while breakers/fuses can trip and blow without a serious problem going on - they (blown fuses/tripped breakers) are usually a sign of something significantly wrong with the unit.
Good Luck!

AC unit LWHD 1800R won't turn on & test/reset does not respond.

Reverse the wires in the receptacle ,not the ground, this is most likely the problem the way the circuit is set up in the ac unit.Let me know if this helps.

What is the polarity and voltage setting for the hot water on demand system

Well if you buy a 220 system it will be 220 volts.
All the bigger systems like for whole house will be 220.
some smaller under sink models will be 110.
There is no polarity since it is AC. If you find something that says polarity on a on demand water heater then somebody at the factory is smoking something.
110 has 3 wires. all tests need done with a multimeter on the AC setting.
Black wire will be 110 volts AC, White wire is neutral and green wire is ground.
220 system also has 3 wires. Colors can vary a bit here but usually it goes like this.
Red wire is 110 AC - Black wire is 110 AC and white wire is Neutral or ground.
Test to ground they read 110 Volts AC test to each other they read 220 AC because they are out of Phase to each other.
PLEASE note. Always get a certified electrician to work on these units. If you feel you are just as good as any electrician, please make sure you have a family member nearby with a phone that can dial 911. 110AC can kill you and 220 AC can kill you faster and deader.

To know whether any particular unit is 110 or 220 we would have to have the model number to look it up. Some can be either and in this case the only way to know is to take the junction box apart. If it is just plugging into a regular wall outlet then it is 110. If it looks like a special plug or like a dryer plug then it is 220.
Hope that helps. Have a great weekend.

What will happen if it is plugged into a 220 volt AC

Hi there, it depends where you got your Wii from.

if your Wii was from japan or another country which uses only a 110v AC power supply then you could have either blown some fuses inside the wii or at worse you could have fried some of the internals.

First of all find out which adapter you where supplied with, check the voltage rating on the adaptor. if it is a 110v adaptor then you may need to have your Wii replaced.

Hope this helps

Run ac off of generator.

you need to use a volt meter and test which lead from the 4 wire output of the generator a 220 v is coming out.

the round center prong of the ac is its ground and should not be connected to any live power. it could be left unused.

tnx 4 using fixya,
