SOURCE: Printer no longer likes anything but "Plain Paper"

every thing is proper .your printer is perfectly ok.your new cartridges which you have installed they are also ok.its your past and printer settings for printing are also ok.its only the problem of weak head nozzles.they can be cleared by giving the --clean the ink cartridges-- option from your pc.till the problem is not solved.but that will use very much ink of your cartridges.and make the cartridges near to empty.so the cartridge head of your printer should be removed from your printer and the head should be cleaned internally .by the moist tissue.90% it will help you to get the proper print outs.and the remaining 10% if the head is blocked with the thick ink which you were using from last many months.this should be cleaned by the proper technician .as he would also open the cartridge head part by part.and clean the head manualy.

pls do rate the solution

thanks.
regards.

I have a Epson pro large format 9600, I print on canvas, I have use Photo black since I have it, but never getting a saturation ressult. I have been counsil by Epson to use Matt black rather than Phot

"Photo black" is designed specifically for glossy photo paper. Matte black is for non-glossy paper, including plain paper. Matte black will print darker on non-glossy paper than photo black does.

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

Hi Juliet

EPSON STYLUS 1400 INKJET PRINTER PHOTO PAPER AND PRINTER SETTINGS

Formulating solutions based on remote diagnostics with just the detail in the question to go by is an inevitably imprecise science. We therefore aim to give our suggestions as wide an ambit as possible to cover all possible scenarios, abilities and experience levels. I suppose the best approach to initial FixYa solutions is to see them as an options list from which you can cherry pick the most relevant and practical ones. The Comment Box then provides the opportunity to fine tune the information flowing both ways. An updated picture after implementation of the relevant suggestions and additional background (such as whether the printer printed properly before and what paper choice of print setting changes since then may have caused the problem to first occurr, the remedies you have already tried, the specifications of you computer and its Opreating System) can then lead to more tailored suggestions.

There are many different types of Photo Paper and your Epson Printer has different Print Settings for each type. Matte paper, at the microscopic level, has more surface area than smoother papers and therefore has greater absorptive properties which, in turn, require a larger than usual amount of ink in order to produce an image with good resolution, than is the case for smoother papers. So Matte setting on a less absorbent paper type can cause excess ink issues and the problems you describe. The correct setting for each type of paper is the setting matching what is printed on the packaging of each respective type of paper (fabric, textured, matte, soft gloss, semi-gloss, gloss, high gloss, ultra gloss, premium gloss, etc).

Start > Control Panel > printers and faxes > right click on Epson Stylus 1400 icon > printing preferences > main > select 'Photo' or 'Best Photo' > click on the arrow next to 'Type' to reveal the drop down menu to select each Photo Paper Type you test > Apply > OK > restart printer > test Photo Printing again.

It is, for creative reasons, possible to deliberately use mismatched Photo Papers and Print Settings for artistic effect, but the results are unpredictable and matte settings for smoother, less absorbent papers can cause similar problems to those you describe. My advice to you would be to buy a variety of small packs of different papers to experiment with. Your enhanced aesthetic instincts will help you identify the best paper for the outcome you envisage. As a place to start, please consider examples of potential paper ideas by clicking on or copy/pasting-to-browser the links/URLs below:

So, please just set the printer settings to match each type of paper you trial to be 100% safe but there is also some margin for experimentation. With this in mind, you should be fine.

I hope this helps.

It will print colors fine on standard paper, but will not print on any type of photo paper.

I don't understand the comment that your canon will not print on any type of photo paper. I own the same printer. I have found that the canon i9900 does not print well at all on generic photo papers, it does poorly on Kodak photo papers, good on HP and excellent on Epson. Are you selecting Preferences/media type, then photo paper, paper pro, paper glossy or matte. What version is your driver. I updated mine last year and it did not work, I still use the original from the install disk, which I have.

Settings for newer types of paper

Matte Papers are a bit thicker and heavier, in the printer properties, try to select from the choices for paper types that are more related kind of paper, like matte photo paper, to "Fine Art Premium matte".

Won't take in my photo paper!

hi dear

I had to reread your first post the mention of what to do with all the photo paper. I see you mean that you don't use matte photo paper you use matte heavy weight paper. I guess I mean that as a question! That is the only thing that works for me with no smearing problems. I haven't found one that is thick enough for a good feel. I used an avery matte paper that has a coating for photo but it just feels very light. Doesn't smear and looks sharp but very light weight. What brand do you use ?

post in me back
ok,thanks
