The tv is connected to a dvd player and someone was playing with the buttons, now the picture wont stop rolling

It is possible that the MODE of TV SYSTEM was shifted possibily from PAL to NTSC and so the pciture can roll or be in black & white.
So open the menu and check the settings, look for TV system , colour system and change.

Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) being generated by you rDVD Player.

That, or you have the DVDs settings on PAL instead of NTSC.

Picture Rolls

anteetina,

most probably your problem is within color system settings. It's either PAL/NTSC or PAL SECAM signals being produced by your player.

1) try to check your TV screen with regards to color system it use, check the color setting if it does indicate "Auto" "PAL" or "NTSC" try to choose "auto" and see if any changes will occur.

note: you can also check the service manual of your DVD player of what color system it produce and if it's match with your TV screen

cheers.

Cyberhome 402 DVD "rolls"

I think I had switched to the PAL format by mistake. Fixed the problem by buying a new DVD player, was cheaper than the factory fix.

I bought a dvd player cobusa model dvd-224. the box stated that it can play Pal and NTSC dvd discs. How does one setup for pal region 5 disc? When I setup for pal I get a rolling black and white picture...

Check to be sure that the setup is correct. The picture you are describing is what happens when you play PAL into an NTSC unit. I don't think you are in PAL mode.

How to reset dvd recorder to ntsc from pal

After checking today to see no one offered any suggestions - I solved the problem the hard way - I went into settings and although the screen rolled, I was finally able to click onto the ntsc setting after about a half hour of tries and once I clicked it, my screen returned to normal -- i was then able to enter the code that made the player an all region player and was happily able to play a pal dvd I received recently. The procedure was simple -- offered by a European Cyberhome user -- the company is in bankruptcy so you cannot gt help from them. Note - my Cyberhome dvr is 1500- not 1600 as you listed it.

Picture keeps rolling

The picture rolling is simply because the PAL decoder can't lock up to the 60Hz vertical sync pulses, even if your DVD player is set to NTSC-PAL conversion and there is no vertical hold adjustment (either external or internal) on this model set to achieve this. There is a possible alternative only if your DVD player has RGB output (not component). The JVC for example has direct RGB drive capability via the SCART input on the back panel. If you get a suitable lead you could try getting a picture this way as it bypasses the decoding and sync sep circuits in the PAL decoder chip.
