Hi Denzel, if it's anything like my unit you will need to make sure that the TV receiver is tuned to the VCR. Depending on make and age this will often be a blue screen.

Make sure the scart leads are fully in both on the vcr and tv,if they are not this can lead to no pic but sound or sound no pic
