Question about Vacuums
You probably will need to replace the switch that is inside and underneath that foot pedal. If you update your post with the make and model of your machine, we can tell you where you can order parts for it, or you can take it to a local repair shop to have it repaired. Should not be real expensive to repair. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Central vacuum not sucking
Usually when there is no suction, and the main unit is running, then either the hose or somewhere in the piping there is a clog. If you move the hose to another location, is there suction? If not then the hose is clogged. You can unhook the pipe at the unit, flip the switch to manual, if it comes on and there is suction there, then there is a clog in the piping, If in the piping, tear up small strips of paper and mark them by number and insert one in each inlet, run the unit on manual to suck them up, and which ever numbered strip isn't there in the bucket, then that is the inlet that is clogged.

go to the canister and disconnect the main suction tube going tinto the canisterturn it on.do you have suction.i bet you do.if you do then your clog is where all the other ines come together from inside the house.each room has a inlet where you connect the hose.well they all come together at one point before it makes it to the canister.theres a fork where it branches off and goes to each room.so no suction in any room means the clog is at the fork.if it were anywhere else some rooms would have suction and one wouldn't.i hope i didn'tmake it too confusing to you.please leave feedback

I have a 6000 and it does the same thing. I simply unplug the unit and plug it back in after cleaning the filter and dumping the cannister. That seems to reset the warning system.
