The capacitor should have a lavel with its information. If there is no information on the lavel, then a ball park figure can be used or if you want the exact value capacitor, then you will need the lavel information from the device the capacitor is connected to and serves, then you will need to find a source with this answer such as a refrigeration company, motor company.
A condensor motor may use 5-10 microfarads/370 volts, a compressor will be more, 20-30 microfarads, a start capacitor about 100-150 microfarads/480 volts.

Where is the transformer located on a turbochef tornado

There are 2 hv transformers. If you take the right side cover off, they are towards the top of the unit. I think you need to take the top cover off, as well, to replace them. If you google turbochef tornado, there are very detailed repair manuals available for free. They shouldn't be hard to replace yourself. You might need to replace the capacitor (s) too. If it won't stand up on its own without falling over then good chance that is shot too. Remember to take a picture before you take everything apart, so you know how it goes back together. Remember to unplug!!! :). These are pretty easy to work on yourself. A service call will cost you at least $500 to replace a fairly cheap part. I learned the hard way. Below is a pic of a transformer, capacitor and mag. They were all bad. Eventually a bad mag will ruin your transformer and capacitor. 8ac8c2ce-4199-46ea-9981-2a2ee5dc9570.jpg c10f5a3f-ab72-45d5-94a0-8faed3674ea8.jpg 1f8362be-530d-497c-83d4-1ba6d05c9557.jpg

More specific, please ! Finally, did you replaced all bad capacitors or only replaced the power supply unit ? Because there are many other capacitors on other places that can be damaged.
Sure, the problem seems to be from one of the capacitors, but you have to know how to find the damaged one (and with the proper instrument will be more easy). Howewer, to buy a good instrument is more expensive than to service your TV set (my opinion). Plus guaranty.

My TV goes off I turn it back on on it goes right back off.I have to keep turning it on for like 30 mins then it might stay on for a hour. the start all over

You did not give a model number. But, I do know what you are talking about. I have repaired many Magnavox and Philips TVs. There is, in this case a weak capacitor. A bad capacitor will rise in voltage and create a high voltage shutdown, in others a weak capacitor will not start up a TV. For some reason the 25 volt, 47 MF capacitor enters my mind( goes weak/bad in many of these). In any case there is a bad capacitor lurking inside. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Tv turns on and goes off right away and it goes on and off on and off

Hi Jack,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Also, bad solder joints can produce the same symptom, it is hard to spot, you should use table lamp/portable lamp for finding the cold solder. Once isolated the faulty capacitor and resoldered the bad solder joints your unit will back to normal again

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a carrier hotel heat and air wall unit, model #52sec312301 aa, date of mfg 2/28/97. installed and unit ran for 5hrs, when the fan motor quit (it only hums). I need information on how to repair if...

Chances are the capacitor is bad. Lets hope anyway right behind the control section is the capacitor it will be a dual one it runs the compressor and fan. First turn the breaker off for unit. access the capacitor make note of the wiring this is where it gets real difficult so many wires in a little space. make labels out of tape it you need to there are two sides to capacitor the fan should only have one wire going to fan side. remove the capacitor you can test the capacitor if you have volt ohm meter. Put in ohm's and check resistance on the fan side. If the meter goes up then down capacitor good. If it runs up and down reverse the leads from the ohm meter and repeat runs up and down. If that checks bad replace the capacitor. but other wise the Fan motor is bad and they are tuff to replace. Can be done but you have to undo the inner part from the outer shell and pulling the whole inside out. You will need long Allen wrenches. Have to remove alot of housing items. let me know what you check on capacitor. ken

ILO LCT32HA36 will not power on

same thing happened to my ilo. There are four capacitors that are bad on the power board. You can usually tell its bad because at the top it bulges out. Here is what you need to do. Unplug the tv, open up your ilo find the power board ( the power cord plugs into it). Then find the capacitors that are bad (they are the around things usually in blue color) and remove them by soldering the other side. On mine there where three 1000uf 16v and one 470uf 35v. Those are the ones that need replacing. I replaced them with a higher voltage rating 1000uf 35v and 470uf 50v. All you need to do is solder them back on but make sure you solder them back the right way (plus goes to plus on the board or you will be in trouble). I found the capacitors at radio shack for about 1.50 a peice. If you dont know how to solder look it up on youtube. If that does not work there might be couple more bad capacitors that need replaceing just need to find them and you can tell by a small bulging top.
