Question about Mitsubishi WD-57732 Projection Television

1 Answer

Bulb is out. Are there adjustments to mirrors or anything when just replacing the bulb? Would buying the full housing assembly be better?

I have seen the youtube DIY videos and doesn't look to hard either way. I just wanted to know your advise to your common person when replacing.

Just replace the lamp, no adjusts needed. I recommend a Phillips, OSRAM, or the original Mitsubishi lamp, as others will either not work or have a very short life.

How do you remove the headlight assembly on 1995 ford f250?

  • 1.
Remove the two upper screws from the headlight housing, using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • .
Locate the two lower retaining nuts inside the engine compartment at the bottom of the headlight housing. Remove the nuts using a ratchet, extension and socket.
  • Separate the turn signal and marker light assembly from the front grill. Rotate the bulb holders counterclockwise and pull them out of the assembly. Set the assembly aside.
  • Unplug the headlight bulb connector from the bulb. Rotate the retaining ring counterclockwise one-eighth turn and remove it from the housing. Pull the headlight bulb straight back and out of the housing. Do not rotate the bulb during disassembly.
  • Lift up on the headlight housing retaining clips to unsnap them from the headlight housing vertical adjuster studs.
  • Locate the horizontal adjuster at the outer bottom corner of the headlight assembly inside the engine compartment. Loosen the horizontal adjuster until it is free of the adjuster nut.
  • Remove the headlight housing from the vehicle.
Installation
  • Install the headlight housing in the front grill.
  • Engage the horizontal adjuster screw with the adjuster nut and screw it partially in.
  • Snap the headlight housing clips on the vertical headlight adjuster studs.
  • Insert the headlight bulb into the headlight housing, flat side up. Slightly rotate the headlight bulb to engage the grooves in the light with the alignment tabs in the back of the housing. Install the retaining ring on the bulb. Plug in the headlight bulb connector.
  • Install the bulb holders in the turn signal and marker light assembly. Install the assembly in the grill. Install the two upper screws, using a Phillips screwdriver. Install the two lower retaining nuts, using a ratchet, extension and socket.
Headlight Aiming
  • Pull the vehicle to within a few inches of a blank wall, on a flat surface. Apply two strips of tape to the wall vertically to mark the centers of the headlights. Apply a strip of tape to the wall horizontally to mark the center of the headlight height. Back the vehicle up 25 feet in a straight line.
  • Turn the headlight low beams to the "On" position.
  • Adjust the vertical headlight adjusters until the high-intensity zone of the light pattern is two inches below the horizontal mark on the wall.
  • Adjust the horizontal headlight adjusters until the high-intensity zone of the light pattern is two inches to the right of the vertical headlight marks on the wall.

I cannot get the side mirrors apart to change the bulbs on my 2008 ford super duty truck. The mirrors are heated.

- Adjust the mirror so the mirror glass is in as far as it will go (meaning if you were looking in the mirror you would see the side of the truck)

- Look inside the mirror housing
- Locate silver clip
- Using a flat screw driver, push the clip in
- Lenses will pop out on the outside
- Remove bulb
- Replace bulb
- Snap back together when new bulb in place.

2004 Ford Focus wagon headlights: the low beam only covers about 30 feet of visibility out in front of the car. I just had the Ford dealer replace these to get better vision and this is what I got -- no...

Lights not adjustable? Hmmm. Is this because the adjustment mechanism is seized or they just didn't want to do them? According to the manual they are adjustable.
It is also possible the reflective quality of your headlamps has been compromised by moisture and time.
Can you look behind the bulbs in your car and see where the mirror type surface has turned dark or peeling? Common in the lamp assembly's made in recent years.
Installing a brighter bulb without a good reflective surface is a waste of money.
Also common is the outer plastic surface getting pitted and yellow. There are kits available in auto supply shops that do a decent restoration on this problem.

Dark, ghost-like, triangle-shaped area in upper right part of screen. Picture shows thru the area. What causes this?

I had the same problem on my 50" DLP. Today I took the light projection mechanism apart to get to the mirror tunnel (a piece about 1.5" long located between the projection bulb housing and lens housing) and, for now at least, the shadow problem has been corrected on my TV.

It would be difficult to describe in detail without photos of how to remove the mirror tunnel. Briefly, once the lower rear cover is removed, it involves completely removing the entire assembly of the projection bulb and lens, along with disconnecting 3 or 4 cable connections. This assembly is held in place with 3 large screws around the projection lens housing in the lower center of the TV. After it's completely removed from the TV, removing smaller screws will break down the component parts. Once you locate the color wheel (about 2" in dia.) between the bulb and lens, the mirror tunnel is directly adjacent to it.

Handle it all with care, and I strongly suggest that you immediately cover the protruding projection lens will a lens cleaner cloth (held by rubber band) so it doesn't get scratched or smudged while you're working on the assembly. This will all make more sense after you get into it. Just remember where everything goes, both cables and screws!

My four mirrors had indeed shifted into a flatter parallelogram than it should be. On my set the metal tunnel casing is molded so that it doesn't allow for the mirrors to be in the shape of a rectangle; it requires a parallelogram shape. The mis-shapened tunnel caused a small portion of the metal mirror housing (on the lamp end) to protrude into the interior of the tunnel, hence the shadow on the screen.

To re-shape the mirrors I gently inserted a nylon cable tie--with a sharpened leading edge--into the tiny gap behind the mirror that had shifted. In doing so the mirrors shifted back to the proper positions and stayed there when I removed the cable tie. (Be very gentle with the mirrors and do not insert anything into the tunnel!)

It's not clear why this (now restored and larger) gap behind that one mirror even exists, but to ensure the the mirrors don't shift again, I inserted and left in a length of cable tie (which is near perfect in thickness and width) in the gap. Time will tell whether heat will deform it.

Perhaps a similar-size strip of metal would be better but I didn't have one. And I would not use any kind of glue or adhesive on these mirrors (as others have suggested); with their small size and the need to keep them crystal clear there is just too much potential to royally mess them up.

After putting it all back together and testing, the shadow is gone. Hope this helps and works for others!

How do you remove the head lamp assembly on a 1993

1. Make sure headlamp is off and open hood.
2. Taurus model years 1990-1999: you must remove the whole headlamp to replace the bulb. Not a horrible task. Just annoying.
3. Facing the driver's side headlamp, and looking at the headlamp itself, at clock positions 8, 11 and 1 are the headlight housing screws. They all look the same. Using a 10mm socket wrench, remove these 3 screws and set them aside.
4. Just to the right of the "11 o'clock" housing screw is a bolt (same hexagonal 10mm sized top as the housing screws). This just needs a few turns to loosen it.
5. Gently pull the whole headlight forward. Now you can get at the bulb.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb. Now the headlamp is free to work with. Remove the bulb, replace with a new bulb, make sure the bulb housing cylinder is in place and reconnect the electical.
7. Place headlamp back into position. Line up screw holes. Tighten the bolt. Replace housing screws and tighten.
8. Passenger side headlamp is mirror image of driver's side. Screws at 11, 1 and 4 o'clock positions. Bolt should be to the left of the "1 o'clock" housing screw.

Side mirror replacement

go to a junk yard as it'll be a lot cheaper there... Yes, technically you can just replace the backing and mirror. The backing is connected to the housing via two rods and some clips. The rods are (secured to the backing and these adjust the pitch of the mirror). If these rods become separated, then it may be tricky to adjust the mirror. Then again, adjust it once and it should stay
