You have 2 options

  • plug the device holding the memory card to your computer, access the card like all other storage devices and copy your recording onto the card. Note: if the device is a camera, you won't playback the recording from the camera.
  • if the MC is not loaded on any device, you will need to plug it direct (many laptop models feature a card slot somewhere on the sides or front). If that is not possible, you need a card reader. fit the MC in the reader and then plug it onto your computer. You copy/ cut and past the recording from computer to Card in the usual manner.

I need to copy videos from my cannon mv700i camcorder and i have a 1394 cable port on my pc what cable do i need to transfer the videos from my cam to my pc/

You need a cable that is called by many names- Firewire, DV, IEEE 1394, and Sony call it i.Link. Many names for the same thing, but they are mostly just one type, with a small plug for the camera end and a larger one to fit the PC. The easiest way to get the right cable is to search Amazon for "canon mv700i firewire". I found a couple right away for less than $10.

How to transfer videos to my pc

I assume you mean videos you've recorded on the MV700i? You need a FireWire card for your PC.
http://www.firewire-1394.com/
But most computer shops will sell them. The camcorder - from memory - comes with a FireWire cable. The "small end" plugs into your camcorder - and the "big end" into your new FireWire PC port.
Then you just need Windows Movie Maker to do the job. You can download to the PC in AVI format if you wish - but for most purposes use "Other settings" -> "Video for local playback (2.1 Mbps)"

How can I transfer the video I shot to my computer?

to transfer video from your camcorder to your pc you will need a firewire cable (ieee 1394). only with this cable you will be able to transer video.
you will also need a firewire port on your pc.
if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire pci card.

In my camera displays tha no card

A model number and manufacturer would be helpful, but I would assume what the camera is looking for is a memory card, quite possibly an SD card if it is a digital camcorder.
If you set it to record to the memory card and there isn't one in there or it has been write protected then it will give the error you described.

You can add memory to your camera by purchasing an xd memory card.
Compatible cards
xD-Picture Card (16MB – 1GB)
There are two ways to record the pictures you take with this camera.
Recording pictures to the internal memory
• Pictures are recorded to the internal memory, and when the number of storable still
pictures reaches 0, you must connect the camera to a computer to download the
pictures, and then erase the pictures from the internal memory.
Using an xD-Picture Card (optional)
• Pictures are recorded to the card when inserted in the camera. When the card is
full, you download the pictures to a computer, and then either erase the pictures
from the card or use a new card.
• Pictures are not recorded to the internal memory when a card is inserted in the
camera. Pictures in the internal memory can be copied to the card using the
[BACKUP] function.

• If you use a non-Olympus card or a card used for another application, such as for
a computer, the message [CARD ERROR] is displayed. To use this card with this
camera, use the [FORMAT] function to format the card.
