In addition to the previous reply (which mostly relies on an external link that may disappear in the future, rendering the answer useless for others with the same problem), it is implicit that using these methods to reset the password to factory default will reset all of the router's configuration to factory defaults as well.

If you are unable to access the settings to use its menu option to erase the configurations, because you don't know the current password, you'll need to use the reset button. On Netgears of that vintage, the reset buttons were recessed under the back panel, with a red circle indicating their locations. e.g.
I need to reset my password to factory setting - 25666648-u55xfd1wbb5m2piimqi2e1xb-5-0_0.png

Use a plastic scribe, toothpick or straightened paperclip to hold the reset button depressed for at least 5 seconds while the router is powered on. Since you can't see it, there is tactile feedback when the button is depressed (50/1000ths of an inch or so).
After about 5 seconds, the power LED should change colors (typically from solid green to blinking yellow). Release the button and the router will reboot (the power LED will turn solid green again).

Once the reset is complete, you should be able to access the settings when connected directly to one of its LAN ports by using a browser to surf to the IPv4 address 192.168.1.1, then logging into the popup dialog with the User name admin and the Password password.

N.B. the words "admin" and "password" (without the quotes) should be in *bold* but fixya's online editor appears to be defective.

Reset password on asus rt n12 router

The only way to reset a forgotten password is to factory reset the device using the reset button on the rear of the router. You will then need to login using the factory default user id and password. After that you must completely reconfigure the router as all internal setting will be reset to factory default.

I forgot the password of my router, Sagem F@st 2804 anyone on how to access again or reset the old password?

There is a button on the back of the router, it is inset and u need a pen or pencil to engage it. It's the factory reset, it will set the router to the factory settings. That means the password resets too. Then if u don't have the factory password google is your friend.

Need password to my netgear router n 300

what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

I forgot my Password for NETGear WGT624 Please help

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

or

if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

hope this helps

Do not know know password for wireless internet

Hi
Go here and download the manual http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Netgear-WNR2000-manual.pdf
You will need to reset the router or change the password in the router 1. To change the password, goto Internet Explorer 2. In the address bar type 192.168.1.1 3. Press enter key 4. YOu should see a box with username and password fields. 5. username is admin 6.password is password 7. These are not the wireless passwords but the access password to get in the router. 8. Once in the router interface on Internet Explorer; goto the wireless sections and change the password there.
To reset the router WARNING: This will reset all the settings to what it was like when it came fresh out of the box. You may need to know some other settings. Restoring the Default Password and Configuration Settings You can restore the factory default configuration settings that reset the router's user name to admin, the password to password, and the IP address to 192.168.1.1. To restore the factory default configuration settings: 1. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button, located on the rear panel of the router, for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins to blink (see "Back Panel" on page 5). 2. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green. The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web browser using the factory defaults.
Failing this, please refer to the manual, page 29 onwards
All the best now
Phil

I have forgot my password for my lap top is there a way to reboot from factory settings?

Forgotten or lost Password -> "Methods to get into your PC/Laptop"

Factory settings -> Means the settings set by the OEM vendors when your first receive your PC/Laptop. You cannot boot into the factory settings once you have configure your PC/Laptop to your personal settings, but you can boot to "Safe Mode" and use the "Administrators" account to reconfigure other Users settings. To get back to "Factory Settings" you can use the OEM "Recovery CD" or "Recovery function from your Hard drive" depending on the OEM Vendors specifications for your PC/Laptop.

**Take note, All your data will be lost when you reverting your PC/Laptop to factory settings!!!

Hope it helps.

Default factory password

Most of the NETGEAR devices, except ReadyNAS products and Fully Managed switches, have the following default username and password:
  • Username = admin
  • Password = password
    • For older devices, password = 1234
If you have changed the default password and have forgotten it, you will need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings in order to use the default username and password. Click here to learn how to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings. Please note: restoring a device to its factory default settings will erase any changes you have saved to the device.

This applies to:
  • Most of the NETGEAR devices such as routers and smart switches.
