Sony trinitron tv

Try unplugging it from any power source for a minute or two. Then plug it in and make sure it is plugged directly into an outlet this time. Don't use any power strips. See if that makes a difference. If not, then it is likely something with the power supply or other internal boards and would need to be serviced to diagnose what the problem is. My opinion is if you get that far, replace the TV rather than pay for the service. I had an old Trinitron and they were good their day but the flat screens have so much better resolution that you would be spending money but at least getting something back for it in terms of a picture improvement. My sony wega trinitron 21 inch TV was showing a single colour when it turn on.sometime it will be full red and sometimes green and sometimes blue.

The fault with your TV is with some loose contact inside it. Normally most Trinitron TVs shows this problem due to loose contact in the video output card. Video output card is pluged diretly to the picture tube base, and can be detachable. You can pull it out very carefully without damaging the pins of of the picture tube. Most of the components in this board will heat up during working. Repeated heating and cooling will make the solder joints of the most heated components to get loose contacted. Normally, these loose contacts are very difficult to detect because they will be microscopic. Just do as what we do for this type of fault.
Resolder most of the suspected solder terminals, with applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between the solder terminals. This will solve the problem of your TV. OK.

Sony trinitron srs wega 36 inch colour is going blue gone already is it worth fixing?

hello eightythreem!
some pro's and contra's...
Trinitron tubes are the best ever built picture tubes - long life, best contrast and sharpness, brilliant colors, etc thou u never get with any modern lcd screen. otherwise the big form factor is uncompareable with todays thin screens. also the brand itself and in your case the wega model is a name on its own high standard. anyway i would recommend you to let your tv check by a local service cause it sounds like a electronical problem - let them tell you how much aproximately fixing will count - before they repair it - so you still can decide is it worth or not. hope to helped a bit.

Blackout area on screen

Make sure the TEXT and CAPTION options are turned off.

I am not sure about the Sonny's, but on my Toshiba a black box appears when I inadvertently leave one of the close captioning (CC) on for text or captions on (such as CC1, CC2, etc.).

Intermitant color bursts of red, green, purple

for the color problem, most likely you do have problem with loose contact of components from C-board ( small board connected at the back of CRT "picture tube" which drives every color and size of the screen)if you have knowledge with soldering electronic component parts, resolder this board and also check main board for possible loose contact.

Go to the Sony website and check out the correct antenna cable and scart lead configuration for your set up. I did and with a few simple connection changes it was like getting a new TV.

Dark and red picture

First you can up the screen voltage, by finding the HV transformer. It has Screen and Focus control on it this it the Transformer that is in back of set and has an anode lead going to Picture tube. Come up on the screen control slowly and if the picture brightens with vertical lines then it's too high, The red problem is a small transistor that maybe located on the CRT board. It's probably shorted. There are about 3, each going to the different colors Red, Blue, Green.
