The manual says wash number 5 takes 60 minutes the only shorter cycles are numbers 9 & 10 which take 55 minutes but they are cooler washes for wool and silk with a spin speed of 800rpm the number 5 has a spin speed of 1400rpm.

Why does it take 3 hours for a wash

Most machines have different wash cycles for different materials. A cotton wash usually takes longest. Most machines also have a quick wash program that takes around 35 minutes. It usually tells you on the dials which programs are available. Read your manual for instructions. If you don't have one you should be able to access one on line.

WFL 2260 Fills hot, fills cold, no wash action, move control to drain, empties, move control to spin, no spin but goes thro. cycle ends program door unlatches, any suggestions?

Motor brushes, worse case scenario motor complete. Run the following motor test.
1. Put main dial to off
2. Press and hold start button whilst turning dial one click to left (easycare 30).
3. When display show 8.88 or two of the progress light come on, release the start button
4. Turn dial anticlockwise to 60 cotton (take the long way, NOT thru OFF or you'll have to start over)
5. Press start

6. Motor should rotate in both directions, pump runs, motor kicks up to full spin.
7. No motor action and two lights flashing on progress lights (separated by a light that's not on) indicates a motor fault.
As suggested brushes or complete motor.
Hope this helps

The wash cycles are taking very long

Sounds like you have a heater problem. Program 5 should take around an hour and 6 should be around 30 min, both with the heater on according to asko's manual. So I would get the heater element checked.

You might get sick of this but im a newbie and i had my 36 shots fuji film using my canon ae1 and i only got 10 shots back and only 2 of them were decent enough, both with the help of sunlight. the others...

I seriously, I mean, really, suggest you get the owner's manual if you don't have one. Look online. Somehow, find one you can download.

The other post said you had a M in the viewfinder. Your camera is set on Manual. You have total control, and the camera cannot react to different light levels. Take it out of Manual mode. Put it in Program mode, or Av. Program mode is identified on the dial as a P. If the dial does not turn easily, do NOT force it. There's likely a small button nearby. press it and turn the dial to P. Now the camera's internal computer can sense the light from the light meter and set exposure accordingly.
The manual will tell you if you need to set the lens a certain way in order for the camera to set aperture for you. If you don't do that, the camera can only set shutter speed for you.
Camera controls exposure, the amount of light that reaches the film, by aperture and shutter speed.
I also suggest you get yourself some basic photography books, and join a local camera club. The library has lots of books you can read for free.

Washer has timing issue, says it will wash for 45 minutes and wash for 1 hour and 15 minutes. The cycle says 50 minutes but it ends up taking 75 minutes.

This is really not uncommon. The more and more sophistocated the machines become, the more small decisions they make on their own. I have seen a one hour load take up to 2.5 hours.

If a load is off balanced, it will change the time. If the spin cycle doesn't spin enough water out, it will increase the time, and may still be too wet. (In that case you need to clean out the lint/drain trap.)

If you really want more control and quicker washes, there will be a setting like "Quick wash " or "Fast wash." Theis setting is quite basic and does exactly what you tell it to do, and you can always add and extra rinse, or higher speed cycles.

Kenmores and GEs are the highest reported rate of longer times. Relax. The more you add, ie, delicate, two rinses, light spin, medium dry, the longer it will take. It's just trying to do its job! :)

I have a older Simpson 880 Dishwasher, 6 program, (circa 1995) that I got second hand. It works quite well, but due to its usage the dial which has the program on it has worn and is very difficult to read....

In regards to your program dial, there is a number 4 2 clicks in front of the 5. That's for normal wash. There's #3 for heavy wash, a #2 for pot scrub and #1 for pre-wash. There are two "clicks" in between each #. There's an R for "rinsing and a D for "drying". You can write the missing numbers on the program dial with a fine point Sharpie permanent marker for a quick cheat-fix. Hope this helps
