How do I treat rodent odder in heater

Hi. This is not an easy problem to fix. Mold and rodent issues are a problem for vehicles not used daily. If Rodents passed away somewhere in your HVAC system. You will need a professional to possibly disassemble the heater box housing or more to find the source. Then use a sanitizing deodorizer to neutralize the odor. it sounds like you may have a clogged hvac system. if there is a cabin air filter you can check that as they get clogged, also a rodent nest under the cowl panel is possible as they like to nest in the air intake for the hvac but usually there will be a smell. I would check under the cowl cover and see if there is a problem with the air intake first off.

check for a rodent nest in the hvc system, they usually get in from the air intake for the hvac system which should be located on the passenger side under the cowl cover. if you have a cabin air filter they love to chew those up and make a nest in it.

the best first thing to do is check for a rodent nest in your system, look into the hvac air intake which should be under the cowl cover on the passenger side. if there is debris in there you have a rodent nest which needs cleared out. if your vehicle has a cabin air filter this is where the intake for the hvac is.

sounds like a mouse nest in hvac system, no smell because when using ac it doesn't use outside air, probably a nest on the screen at the hvac air intake or if you have a a cabin air filter check in there. many times rodents make nests have babies and then the car moves and they cannot feed the babies and so they die and rot smell comes into car. usually it is not hard to access because there should be a screen between the outside and inside under the cowl cover, if no screen and the little buggers vot into your hvac duct system this could be a much bigger problem entailing removal of dash completely. most likely this isn't the case, good luck

I know this is pretty old, but I've been able to get to my blower motor WITHOUT removing the entire dash. If you take out your glove box and shine a light up above where the air filter is, you can see a round plastic piece with a wire and a little tab on it. Just push the tab, rotate the piece and disconnect the wire. The trick is getting it around your side vent tube, but with a little wiggling not too hard. I live in the country and had to fish 2 hand fulls of insulation out of my blower motor due to mice.8 screws hold the glove box on.

Pine needles get into the heater box and clog the heater fan motor's "fan".
You also may have rodents in there,making nests.
The wife was smart to turn off the heater fan B-4 the fuse blew.

Try putting some dryer sheets on the floorboard of the truck. The mice don't like the smell, they will leave.

if you live in wooded area sometimes mice go inside cars and build nests in the heater blower under dash they build nests with grass and paper and garbage id did a couple of these jobs up in the north east
