Which wires on the Cat5 are connected to the WAN Port

Cat 5 is a cable configuration standard that uses a plug and jack that is similar to a modular phone jack called rj45. Those cables plug into multiple points on the router. If you have a separate cable modem, the cat 5 cable from the modem connects to the WAN port on the router.

    Remote usb control & softwere

With windows XP you do not need a driver, and there are none available; http://www.scanace.com/en/download.php I had no luck finding a manual or any tech info online - you could possibly get the info from Pacific Image; Contact PI Via... TEL: 505-424-0384 Live Support Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Mountain Time FAX: 310-618-8200 Email: support@scanace.com It appears that you cannot control the player from the computer. Cat 5 is an ethernet networking standard, not suitable for direct USB connection - you have to have the usb connected to and driven by one pc, then you could network it through the cat 5 to as many PCs as your router/hub allows. In extremis, you could potentially modify cat 5 wiring to run a USB signal, but you would not be able to then use the cable for ethernet networking. The USB interface is not able to deal with long or unsuitable cable runs. Hope this helps :)

I have been on many sites with Cat 5 systems. What I cannot understand is why are the sockets numbered oddly i.e 1--6 2--7 3--8 etc. Instead of 1--2 3--4 5--6 etc.

Not sure if I understand your question.
Cat 5 (and higher) cables consist of four twisted pairs. The idea is, that disturbances by magnetic fields compensate each other this way. I suppose that the arrangement of the wire on the plugs and jack come from good ols analogue days, where the telephone-call was only on two wires (=one pair). To keep it as undisturbed as possible, the center of the plug (pins 4 and 5 on a rj45) was used. The next pair was spread over them and therefore used pins 3 and 6. Pair three was put on pin 1 and 2, and pai four on pins 7 and 8.

    I need a wire diagram for a high voltage Baldor motor CAT # 054180 79151 connect to 440VAC it's a 40HP, RPM 3525 , 3PH and it's SPEC# 40F97Z22 please help

Normal wiring for this type of 9 lead motor to 440VAC is
    Connect #4 to #7 Connect #5 to #8 Connect #6 to #9
Connect supply phase A to #1 Connect supply phase B to #2 Connect supply phase C to #3
Can you confirm the CAT and SPEC numbers? They do not show up on the Baldor site. If they are correct as listed, you need to call the Baldor help line and find out if this is a special motor.

DL 524 router with a mac

When you connect the MAC to the router with the CAT 5 cable it works , that means the wired connection of the router is working but the wireless is not working.
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the cable ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router and open the set up page of the router.

I'm wiring my home for phone & internet with a single cat 5 wire. Is this possible

    Hi mcdevitta,

I know that the internet will need to use a cat 5, but I don't think a phone will work on a cat 5 wire. A phone wire is a modular 4 wire cord, Now if you purchase VOIP type phones then yes you only need a cat5.

    Good Luck,

Configuring DSL for All RJ-45 Jacks

the simpliest way is to have a wireless/ wired 4 ports router and install it beside your modem and locate where your Cat 5 cables central end is. Identify the Cat 5s that are connected to the 5 locations of your PCs if all of them are not capable of wireless connection you need to add a switch (4 port or 8 port) which you also need to connect to one Lan port of your router.

    Hope this helps.
