Why does brine tank fill with water and overflows?

It sounds like there is a problem with either the valve in the head not sending water to the venturi jet when it is supposed to recycle or, the venturi or jet have an obstruction that is preventing it from creating the vacuum necessary to draw the brine back from the tank into the resin bed.
If there is water flowing out of the drain line during the recycle it is probably the venturi or jet need cleaning. If no water is flowing it is probably the valve assembly.

You are likely using a rock salt and what you are seeing is a build up of dirt and fine sand because rock salt isn't clean... it's got rocks in it. Clean your tank out and rinse it thoroughly with a hose. Be sure to clean out your 3" tube (brine well) and under the salt platform if you have one. Start with a clean salt like System Saver II or Crystal Plus. Never fill your salt tank over half full. Always let your salt be used down to the water level. IF the salt at the water level is soft and pasty don't add more; tip the salt tank until the salt is raised along one side or corner to above the water level when you stand the tank up carefully. This will allow all the water in the tank to become brine (saturated solution).

IF you are using potassium instead of salt, the brown is a natural component. Don't worry about it although it never hurts to clean your brine tank yearly.

Waterboss 93000 water softener

It most likely is due to a plugged eductor/injector assembly which pulls the salt brine out of the tank to regenerate softener. If it is plugged no brine will be pulled from salt tank during regen but it will keep filling the salt tank and eventually overflow with each cycle. Or there could be a leak in the valve causing the tank to overflow.
Here is the owners manual for your model.

Softener not filtering water through the salt and not draining water from tank

What model of water softener do you have ? The one you have on here is for a chemical, not a water softener. Usually it is the brine injector or commonly called the nozzle/venture that gets clogged and will not create a vacuum to draw out the brine water. If you can put a picture of your water softener on here. I'd be more than happy to help you out.

The water softener full of water no soft water

If you failed to regenerate the filter (Back flush with brine) then the water softener will not do its job. Check the brine tank, hoses, and timer.

Harveys water softener leaking

Actually it is regenerating if it is filling the salt tank with water. It is just not drawing out the water/brine during the brining cycle. Check the eductor assembly it is most likely plugged with iron or debris. Clean thoroughly and manually cycle unit to brine draw. Usually second cycle, until the water level is back to normal then do a manual regeneration from beginning. Then regen 3 consecutive days.

Just replaced old softner w/new whirlpool 40,000. Hooked up correctly, regenerated w/ 6 tblsp bleach before use, tested/set hardness, Water is not soft....why?

Is the "bypass valve" in the correct position. I would suggest flushing the water heater at the boiler drain, bottom of tank to assure soft water in WH. Make sure there is salt in brine tank and manually regenerate the softener 3 days in a row. Retest water.

The water softner is now filling up with water also the is water in the the overflow its sits in

The softener is not drawing brine during the regeneration cycle. The eductor assembly may be plugged or you may have a bad seal internally. It will keep filling the salt tank if the float assembly is not working properly also causing the salt tank to overflow.

It looks that water is leaking from the - Culligan water softner

Look down the tube (where the float assembly is) there should only be about 10-12" of water in there. For water to reach the brine tank over flow the tank would have to be 3/4 of water. Brine tanks can develop leaks over time if they were set on uneven ground or if any rocks or debris are under it. If there is no evidence of water running down the side of the brine tank this is the most likely cause. Also if it has been leaking for some time there will salt buildup around the brine tank. Check the water softener for any leaks also. At times a small leak from the softener will find it's way over to the brine tank and collect around the bottom of it.

Kinetico Water Softening Unit has brine tank drainage problem

This sounds like the resin cylinder is perforated or connections at the top are leaking. The brine tank should only have a little water in the bottom - if it is full of water (maybe even up to the overflow?) then you will need to replace the resin cylinder or fix a leaky connection to it.

Is the water in the brine tank 'rusty'?
