Hooked up roper dryer and it's propane everything seems to be hooked up right but won't get hot or even heat up. This is first time ever having to use propane. Any idea what it might be or could have...

1.is the pilot light lite burning.
2. if pilot light light is on ,does the blue flame of the pilot light touch and heat up the thermocouple.
the dryer will not turn on the heat if the pilot flame does not touch and heat up the thermocouple.

3 is the dryer plugged in to the electricity.
4. is the dryer actually getting electricity.
If the dryer has electricity and the pilot flame is touching the thermocouple, then try buying and installing a new thermocouple.

****have you purged the air out of the gas lines so that the dryer is actually geting pure propaine and not just air getting pushed ahead of the propaine.

how old is your dryer, if new, warranty service will trouble shoot & repair for free.

you need to tell us more so that we have some facts to work with. vagueness does not cut it.

Pilot wont stay lit when you release button we replaced the thermocouple stii no luck. the heater is a 2500 hayward

Two things could be causing this: A dirty pilot (especially if the pilot flame is curling up,away from the Thermocouple. Or when you installed the new thermocouple, you overtightened it.

To clean the pilot use canned air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) to blow out the pilot tip and the surrounding parts of the pilot assembly.

To correct the Thermocouple problem: Loosen and remove the end of the Thermocouple from the Control Valve for 2 minutes. Reinstall it, using your fingers to tighten (be careful not to cross thread it) until you can tighten it no longer with your fingers. With an appropriately sized wrench, tighten it only 1/4 turn more.

The above should solve the problem.

Will not stay on geep going out

Will pilot lit then burner and after it does this with just pilot on is that when it goes out. If this is what is happening ,pilot going out, then I would first change thermocouple. The thermocouple is usually on the bottom left hand side of gas valve. It will look like copper wire about as thick as a pencil lead. Remove burner cover and trace thermocouple line to where it mounts on pilot light assy.Thermocouple should be held in place by friction.Remove thermocouple from gas valve by lossenjng retaing nut, reach in burner compartment and grasp thermocouple at base.using small amount of force pull thermocouple from pilot assy and remove. You can get anew one at most hardware stores. Try to get one close to the length you have. A little longer ok. shorter no.Reinstall being careful when you tighten thermocouple nut as it is made of brass and valve body is made of aluminum.Very easy to cross thread or overtighten and strip threads. Make sure thermocouple is properly plased by pilot. Light piloy and hopefully this will tke care of it for you. THANKS

Kenmore dryer Model #6507923 Gas sometimes won't

You may have a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple senses the heat from the flame and "tells" the control unit that the flame has lit. If it is sending no signal, the control will think it didn't light and shut off the gas to prevent an explosion. Good luck.

Maytag dryer runs but doesn't heat up

1. Open the small access door in front of the dryer and start the heat cycle. The ignitor must glow a bright orange so that it is hot enough to light the gas. If there is no orange glow, then the ignior needs replacement.
2. If it glows then cuts off, then glows, again and cuts off, the thermocouple sensor wire is out of position. It needs to be very, very close to the ignitor. This thermocouple sends a temperature signal when it senses that the ignitor is hot enough to ignite the gas. Unplug the dryer. Re-position the thermocouple wire mount so that the thermocouple wire is almost touching the ignitor. You may also "bend" the wire. Plug power back on and heat.
3. If it still does not heat, then the automatic gas valve that is controlled by the thermocouple sending unit is broken. The automatic gas valve cannot be safely "fixed" and must be replaced.
Hope it's just the thermocouple wire.

GE Gas Dryer (Model DQSR 483) Drum works but does not heat

There are three things besides what you aleady checked:

Dryer not working, wondering if the mystery cord is the reason

Sounds like you have a gas dryer...
Could be what your looking a is a thermocouple tubing, if this is broken your dryer will not work...replace with a new thermostat and thermocouple tube. They come as a unit.

Pilot light won't stay lit

Possible a bad thermocouple, could also be bad gas pressure to the unit, my bet would be a thermocouple.
You should be able to replace this on your own, if you see where the pilot flame is, you will see the thermocouple that sticks into the flame, it may have fallen off or may need replacing, it should lead back to the gas valve and should be replaceable.
Grainger normally stock a lot of thermocouples and could even cross reference one for you.
