I have a ceiling fan with lights, last night the fan was turned on for the first time since summer, the remote is over the light switch. The remote to turn on the lights is used normally. Since turning...

There is a small relay in the ceiling fan causing this noise, try turning off all power to the ceiling fan and allow it to set for a couple of minutes. Turn it back on and see if it goes away. If it does great. if not, it may not be worth the repair cost but it can be fix by an appliance tech.

I have a whistle/squeeking sound coming from my Malibu Star ceiling fan. They say it's a lifetime sealed motor that requires no maintance. So what could be the problem?

probably the ball stud mounted on the nylon sphere. they will sqeak in time. A small shot of WD40 may help but keep a rag on hand to keep your lube job clean

How does the cover plate attach to the ceiling plate to access the wiring from the ceiling

The trim ring (flush with ceiling) rotates ccw to remove. Than you'll see small screws holding cover in place. Remove, lower cover and wires will be accessible.

Chain broke off ceiling fan

Is it broken off inside the pull switch? If so, I would recommend replacing the switch. The chain attatchment assembly is riveted onto the electrical part of the switch. It is possible to drill out the rivets to separate the two sides of the assembly to replace the chain, however you would need to use small bolts with nuts to reattatch pieces together after installing new chain. It's a pain in the back side.
(of course all this repair work needs to be completed after removing the fan from its ceiling location and disconnecting the wiring)

Removing the ceiling mount from the ceiling of a hampton ceiling

Sometimes there is a small trim piece where the canopy meets the ceiling that "snaps" into place and rather than turning to unlock it needs to be gently pryed off. If you have a small trim piece that makes more than about 1/8 of a turn without unlocking. that is definately what you have.
