SOURCE: Hotpoint Door Interlock Switch

If it's anything like the WM65 then I did it myself this evening. Be aware that I'm no professional. POWER SAFE? Three screws on the back of the top cover. Top off Remove the soap/fabric softener tray. Four screws off around the gap that's left. Three knobs to pull off (it helps if you remember which way they are set when you do this!) Take the rectangular control panel off, which should now be loose - it has interlocks on the right hand side, so be careful not to break them. You may need to tie or tape the panel safely out of your way to te top of the machine. Three screws off the top off the door section. Open the door unscrew the two short screws holding the lock plate. The interlock switch will fall off the back of the door, held on by it's power supply. Stick your hand round the back and pull it clear. Swap the mechanism (mine cost £14) Reverse procedure. Good luck. This wasn't the fault on my machine in the end. boo hoo!

SOURCE: Hotpoint Washing Machine Door Interlock (how to wire up)

The three wires you should have are
1-Brown-goes to L
2 Thin black to N
3 White to C..
Hotpoint never have incorporated a wiring diagram on any of their british made appliances, so previous comments made do not apply in this case.
Hope this helps.

Loose filter warning

Most projectors have a safety interlock switch installed on the lamphouse door and in the filter cavity. They are there to keep the unit from operating if one or the other aren't present. I'm not familiar with your exact model, but I've seen the lamphouse interlock switch in several Panasonic units come-loose, and slide to the point where the pin on the door doesn't push the switch any more. I would suggest looking around your filter for such a switch. The one in the Panasonic is behind a round hole, and is 'pressed' by a plastic pin on the door. Your filter may be similar. Hope it helps. :)

My electrolux ewf 1030 get err 44 help me pls ?

E44 - It means "Door closure sensing circuit faulty".
Replace the circuit board and restart the diagnostic cycle to check further alarm condition.
When the washing programme is started by pressing the START/PAUSE button, the bi-metal PTC (contacts 3-5 on door interlock device, no.3 on electrical diagram) is powered by the triac (DOOR TY) on the PCB: after 2 - 4 seconds, this closes the switch (5-4) which powers the electrical components of the appliance (only if the door is closed). The door interlock prevents aperture of the door while the appliance is in operation.
Microprocessor recognize closure position by sensing circuit connected to J2-1 on electronic board.
At the end of the washing programme, the PCB disconnects the interlock from the power supply, but the door remains locked for 1 to 2 minutes (PTC cooling time).

I have a microwave hood combo - kenmore. the power goes out when i open the door or closes it, then it comes back on -

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
You have a bad door interlock switch or bent switch actuation arm. Should someone open the door while the microwave is operating without pressing pause/stop when the unit has this symptom will cause the internal fuse to blow and it will not operate until the fuse is replaced. The switches are inexpensive but takes someone with some reasonable mechanical skills and knowledge of using a meter to isolate which of the 3 door interlock switches is causing the problem.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Is'nt the door interlock of the waching mahcine actuated by electrical solenoid mechanism when it is in running cyckle. If so . why cant we open the machine machine door by unplugging the unit to...

It's both electrical and mechanical. There's a water level sensor which is mechanically coupled to the switch, so even if the machine is unplugged it won't open until it's drained (open the debris trap if there is one or disconnect the hose from the pump inlet)..

Note that the switch itself remains energised electrically for a minute or two after the power is disconnected, the power comes from a large capacitor which slowly discharges.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

1st the model number appears to be incomplete. Not an issue at this point but will be if you need parts.

You most likely have an interlock problem with one of the 2 door switches or the door interlock mechanism is broken.
There are 3 safety interlock micro switches activated by the door. One for the light, one for the Magnetron and one for the control panel power. If the problem persists with the Magnetron disconnected. The Magnetron safety interlock micro switch is supposed to blow the fuse if the unit is energized with the door open. Check continuity of your door interlocks. Pat particular attention to the NC (normally closed), C (Common) and NO (Normally Open) contacts.
NC should read to C and when the switch is activated read open at which time the NO contact will read to C.

I really suspect a bad microswitch.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Fuse blown,door switch shorted

you need to readjust the"Interlock" switch position on the door, they are made to blow the fuse purposely when the door is mis-adjusted for safety, you will need to unplug the unit and disconnect the "interlock" safety switch, then readjust and close the door, until you can get the switch adjusted so it doesn't show a short circuit on the meter, then this should stop the fuse blowing issue for you

Rinse cycle continues after the door is open

There is a door interlock within the door assembly. I believe it's mechanically stuck rather than needing replacing.

Turn off & unplug. You should be able to get to the internals of the door via screws around the edge. The interlock will be very close to the handle catch. Check operation by inserting a dummy catch to lock onto it.

If it is stuck solid - order a replacement.
