Question about RCA L40FHD41 40. in HDTV

Backlight is out. Why is picture still displayed on screen?

Backlight is out. Doesn't flicker on or anything -- completely dark. However, the screen still displays the picture, but it can only be seen if you're shining a very bright flashlight on it. I've opened up the back and immediately found two capacitors with popped tops on the power supply board. I ordered some replacements 1000uf 16v and successfully installed them, but the issue persists. I don't know for sure if the problem is the power supply board, the bulb converter board or something else entirely. I've checked everything I could on this TV except the bulbs themselves don't have a clue how to get to them, and all looks to be in decent shape. Cleared up the minimal dust that was present, reseated all the connectors... Mainly, I'm looking for anything else I might be able to do before I give in and start buying whole replacement parts. Is it possibly a firmware issue? Is there a neat trick I might be missing? This is my first time trying to repair a TV, and I'm a novice at manual repair. I unfortunately don't have the proper tools to check anything in-board. Any sort of help or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Backlight inverter section circuit is faulty. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should trouble shoot. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.
Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

Testimonial: "Luckily, the inverter board is separate from all other components, and I managed to find a replacement online for about $25. Not as steep as I originally thought. Thanks for the help!"

Hi..i am using compaq presario cq 40 and screen is flickering.i had it checked and they told me lcd is the problem but they didnt even bother to check.they just turned it on and they told me that i have to...

When it flickers, can you still see the text when the screen goes dark?
May have to use a bright flashlight set right on the display to see
the text on the screen beside where the light sits.
That will tell you if it's the backlight.

You can also look at a grazing angle into one of the edges to see if the
backlight is flickering when the display does.
When it's cold, does it start with a slight pinkish color? That can be
a sign of backlight going bad.
Anything interesting happen when you flex the cable by moving the screen?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I've never seen software cause
consistent screen flicker. And if the vga port doesn't flicker, sw is
even less likely the problem.

If you bet the odds, you'd bet on a bad display cable.
Won't hurt to try replugging it.

If that doesn't help, then your monitor may be dying....

My laptop screen is very dark, I can't see anything, what do I need to do?

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, this is the most likely case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
