Most common reason a gfi trips is the heater or blower have failed!
Unplug each one, one at a time...
whatever is unplugged/disconnected from board and the gfi stays on, that piece is the bad item and needs repair/replacement.

My hot tub works for about 20 mins and clicks the GFI off. Then I reset the GFI and the spa comes on for about 7 mns and trips the GFI again. Is this my heater doing this?

Easy way to test for the heater issue is to disconnect the heater from the board. Disconnect both leads from board and let the spa call for heat. There is also a chance the GFI breaker is bad however most times the heater fails and the breaker is doing its job.

I have a spa berry 2 person hot tub. Tried resetting it but as soon as I let go of the reset button it trips the breaker. Can't get it to stay on. Tub is 4 yrs old. Where do we start?

Melisa, Breaker/GFI may be going bad. You may have to get an electrician to check for short or faulty motor/heater, etc. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Leisurebay spa with Balboa controls.Just wired it up 240v.as soon as i flip the breaker it trips.disconnected wires from pump relay and connected them together, now the breaker stays and the pumps will

make sure the spas control panel is set for 230v next check the GFIC it might be faulty. AS A TEST ONLY you can bypass the gfi af all works, try another GFI. but this doesn't rule out.. shorted motor, heater or even a light ..

Electrical issue with Eclipse spa

most portable units have a gfi like unit on the control box..it is shaped like an outlet but without the prong holes for a plug to go in.. my tub has one..its got a black reset buttom and a red test button on it..push in on the red button.. if the black button does not pop out(you will hear a click) its already tripped..push in the black button.. if the tub starts to work then observe the functions.. if not recheck the breakers/fuses at your main box..now as far as tripping the gfi..you may need to dry the wet motor out using a blow dryer(for hair) but there is an earth ground on the control box that you need to connect a simple ground wire to a rod driven into the dirt close to the tub..(if its outside)..the power cord to the tub needs to be as large as your electric stove connector is..thats a 50 amp 220 volt setup..anything smaller wont properly run the tub..do not use any smaller wire as it will get too hot and eventually burn up..it becomes a safety issue..be carefull with all of this..

Qo260gfi not tripping

Question is not fully clear.

2-pole 240Volt gfci circuit breaker requires the white wire be connected to neutral busbar.

Easy solution for 240Volt spa that comes with gfci:
Replace spa gfci with regular non-gfci breaker.
Install 2-pole GFCI breaker in main panel, and connect wire to spa breaker.

Having 2 breakers is not a problem.
Having 2 GFCI on same circuit is a problem.

What's youI just wired in my J-300 Jacuzzi hot tub. The GFI trips every time I reset it. I took the GFI out of the equation and the tub runs fine, does not trip the breaker at the main breaker box

#1. DO NOT GET INTO TUB FULL OF WATER WITH A GROUND FAULT.
2. There is a short. You need to get multimeter and start checking each part for current running to ground wire.
3) Power is ON. Connect power without GFCI.
4) Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from power.
5) Do not touch anything directly or you will become the ground rod.
6) Ground wire must be present, and bonded back to main panel box.
7) Do not sit or touch directly on cement or bare ground. Do not touch or lean into anything made of metal.
8) Body and parts must be on sheet of plywood, or similar non-conductive dry surface.
9) Test each part with spa, but also test electric line coming from main box.
10) GFCI will also trip with any fault detected on line. So the wire coming to spa may have the fault.
11) Add a new dedicated line from main box to spa.

40 amp gfi on hot tub keeps tripping.I have a 50 amp.can I use?

Your hot tub needs GFI protection because it is electrical, and people sit inside water that could be exposed to electric current.
You have a fault to ground that needs to be fixed.

Size 8 wire for 50Amp breaker.
Size 6 if tub is 50-100' feet away

GFI 'shorted'

load neutral connects to the neutral binding screw on the GFI, do NOT connect the load neutral to the neutral bar.
