Why will throttle on Mantis 4 cylinder tiller not move when we pull the lever?

The engine is likely to be speed governed in some way. Depending on the method employed there is likely no direct connection between the throttle lever and the throttle butterfly, assuming it is a petrol engine.

Unless it is fitted with a governed carburettor, which would have a direct connection, the throttle lever is usually connected to the throttle butterfly by a fairly weak spring. When the throttle lever is moved to increase the engine speed, as the speed rises the governor which is also connected to the throttle butterfly will pull back tending to close the butterfly until the throttle spring and the governor are equal to each other and an increased stable speed is achieved.

A degree of maintenance is usually needed as the spring(s) rust and fall off, the rods and pivots become bent, worn, detached or seized...

I need help putting rear end back together on a 10 hp30 Murray riding lawnmower

Safety and Preparation Serious injury can occur if the engine or mower blades accidentally start while you are working with lawn tractors. To prevent this, drive the Murray lawn tractor onto a flat work surface and disengage the mowing deck cutting blades. Engage the parking brake to keep the mower from moving; chock the wheels with a wooden block or brick. Adjust the mowing deck to the lowest position. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition. While not necessary, you may even wish to disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Mowing Deck Removal You must remove the mowing deck on a Murray lawn tractor to gain access to the belts. Remove the adjustment rod hairpins, followed by the adjustment rod pins from the front left and right sides of the mowing deck. At the rear on the left and right sides, pull out the retaining hairpins and slide the mowing deck suspension links from the adjuster plates to separate the rear mowing deck from the frame. Remove the blade control rod stud, including the hairpin and washer, from the top of the blade control lever shift linkage at the left rear of the deck. Remove the front hanger rod, including the hairpin and flat washer that hold the rod in place. Loosen the belt guide retaining bolts with a socket wrench and remove the engine stack pulley belt so you can slide the mower deck out from under the tractor Transmission Drive Belt Installation Slide the new transmission drive belt between the engine stack pulley belt guides, over the belt guide plate and under the engine stack pulley. Fit the transmission drive belt around the top engine stack pulley. Push the free end of the transmission drive belt up through the transmission shifter hole in the lawn tractor floorboard. Slip the transmission drive belt loop over the transmission shifter. Pull the transmission drive belt down through the transmission shifter hole. Fit the transmission drive belt around the transmission drive pulley and tighten the transmission drive pulley belt guide retaining bolts to hold it in place. Fit the transmission drive belt flat side around the idler pulley. Slide the idler pulley onto the idler pulley stud while holding the belt in place. Tighten the transmission idler pulley retaining nut with a socket wrench to secure the idler pulley to the idler pulley stud. Mowing Deck Drive Belt Installation Pull back on the right side mowing deck mandrel pulley spring-tensioned belt retainer. Guide the new mowing deck drive belt around the right side mandrel pulley and release the belt retainer. Pull the drive belt spring-tensioned retainer away from the mowing deck idler pulley, guiding the deck drive belt around the idler pulley. Fit the mowing deck drive belt around the left side mandrel pulley and under the rear mowing deck cross link rod between the right and left side mandrel pulley. Slide the mowing deck under the right side lawn tractor frame, reconnecting the deck to the frame in reverse order of removal. Engage and disengage the mower deck while driving the mower to test the belt for proper operation.

Why will my Gx325 John Deere not go in forward or reverse

For a more precise answer give the Year/Hours on Meter, and a brief description of the events prior to the problem. When did it last run correctly? What has happened since then?
The first questions that comes to mind...
  1. Can you manually push the mower around?Easily?
  2. We need to know if the brakes are locked up?
  3. We need to know if the transmission bypass lever is in or out?
  4. With the bypass lever out, brakes off, can you roll the machine?
  5. Is the bypass lever still properly connected and unbent?
  6. Looking under the machine (right in the center above the cutting head) are the drive belts intact?
  7. Do the drive belt idler pulleys/bearing look ok?
  8. Is the drive belt engagement plate still connected to the foot pedals?
  9. Does the pulley wheel and fan on the transmission spin when the motor is running? (is power going to the transmission?)
These are your first things to check. You may have to remove the cutting head to fully examine these things.

Mtd manual

MTD uses several different configurations. Electric PTO's are tensioned all the time by an idler pulley on a spring loaded bracket. Manual PTO's with an engagement lever have a movable bracket attached to the lever via a cable that will tension the belt when the lever is engaged. Another configuration is the deck engages when the deck is lowered with the deck height lever and disengaged when the deck is raised. In this case the belt is tensioned by a large spring from the rear deck support bracket to a mount on the transaxle and tension is released by a rod that pull the deck forward when it is raised.

2005 yamaha r6 shift lever is limp

Wish I could be there to check it. Yes, the shift return torsion spring could be broken. No, the the shift tension spring is not the same as the torsion spring. The tension spring is not the problem. It just indexes the shift drum in proper position for each gear. The stopper screw could have a broken end. The torsion spring may not be hooked in position. It could also be that the shift lever needs to be removed and the bore cleaned free of mud and well as the shift shaft. Be sure the pedal shift lever is not bound up against anything.

Cable streched on swisher trailmower

Pull the belt cover off on the side of the engage lever and you will see that it is not a wire cable that engages the idler pulley. It's a rod connected to a long spring. Perhaps the spring came off or is defective as it puts tension on the idler pulley against the drive belt when you engage the blades. Further, there is a return spring to pull the idler pulley away from the drive belt when you disengage the blades. Check all the connections for the springs and see that the engage lever is mounted tightly. Also check the idler pulley itself.
