I'm pretty sure that indicates an alarm. The pattern is referred to as "temporal 4" which is the alarm pattern for CO. Either your device is in a bad place or there is an intermittent CO leak which is exceeding the ppm (parts per million) threshold for a given time period. The instructions for the device will tell you what that number is. If you have more than one of these, I would try swapping them to determine if the problen is with the device or the location. Good luck!

SOURCE: how to fix detector

You don't mention how old the detector is. If it is more than 5 years old the detector may be beeping to indicate the end of its service life. A smoke detector can last much longer but carbon monoxide detectors have a limited life span. If putting in new batteries doesn't fix the problem then most likely you will need to replace it.

SOURCE: my smoke/carbon monoxide detector keeps

My Smotec 3786A indicates not to install it in above 85% humidity.
One of my three seems to go off annually or so and this is what
recently put it down to. I was making an espresso coffee on the
stove and it generates a lot of steam and off goes the fire alarm.
I did change the battery to no avail.

How do we get the smoke & Fire detector to stop beeping, the cover is off and it is still beeping? There is no battery for these units.

Vacuum the sensor with a crevice tool and then the brush. If it continues, you need to replace it. Please do REPLACE it, smoke detectors saves lives.

The tendency is to leave batteries out or not replace fixed power units. All smoke detectors should be tested monthly and replaced every 10 years.

The was a family of three killed at the weekend in Brampton near where I live. They were in a rented house that had 'no working fire detectors'. That means they had them, but the batteries were dead or not installed.

It was beeping every 15 seconds or so. I pulled unit off ceiling and checked batteries. Reinstalled. No more beeping. Do I need to replace batteries?

The beeping means that the detector was sensing low voltage from the battery. If the battery is over a year old, most manufacturers recommend yearly replacement on smoke detector batteries.

I have two firex smoke and carbon dectectors, and 3 smoke detectors in bedrooms.

do they beep three times, pause then beep three times again? if so, they are going into alarm. since they all ring together, the only way to tell which one is causing the problem is to look for one where the leds are different than the others. If your detectors are more than 10 years old, replace them all as required by the national fire code (NFPA72). If they are only doing single chirps, that is usually an indication of a low battery...perhaps the breaker for the circuit has tripped causing them to run on battery only. good luck

Two fire/smoke sectors occasionally beeping - no battery inside - connected to NetworX 1448E security system. We have changed the large battery in security - still beeping

If the units are more than 5 to 7 years old they have reached the end of life cycle and need to be replace. Smoke detector typically are only good for 5 to 10 years.

Had customer with CO detector sounding quick double chirp about every five minutes. What is this?

This is not a beeping smoke detector. It is probably a CO detector that was installed by your alarm company. GE model 240-COE will give a double beep every 5.5 minutes when the device reaches end of life. Call your alarm company to have it replaced.

Golding93, you could very well have elevated levels of CO in your home. You should leave your house immediately and call the fire department. However, if your CO alarm is 7 years old, it could also be the alarm's end-of-life warning. Regardless, you should definitely call the fire department to have everything checked out. If you need additional assistance with your CO alarm, please call our customer service line at 1-800-880-6788. Thanks for being a Kidde customer. We appreciate your business!

Propane is heavier than air so if the detector is mounted ABOVE the appliances that use it (or any tubing that brings the propane into the house) it (the propane) will NOT be detected, even if there is a leak. That said, the PRODUCTS OF COMBUSTION of a propane appliance will still contain carbon monoxide (CO) which is lighter than air and will be detected by a properly installed detector. If you continue to get alarms and readings that differ from each other, along with no error codes on the display, it sounds like the detector is really detecting something. If the fire department cannot identify a source, try calling the Kidde "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and ask if they can recommend another agency in your area to check your premises. I don't think these units detect Radon but am not sure. If your dwelling is of relatively new construction, the problem can be complicated by the fact that there is less outside air infiltration to disperse any build-up of gas/radon/CO/etc. than is typical in older construction. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. My carbon monoxide detector just has one sold beep and is not plugged in.

I assume you mean your carbon monoxide detector has one solid beep, and it is probably an AC unit. It may be safe to assume that it has battery backup if it is beeping without being plugged in.

First, you may replace the battery with a new one, plug it in and hit the reset button. If that doesn't work, you could bring it in to your local fire department to have it tested.

Check the expiry date on the Carbon Monoxide Detector. It should be replaced if it is more than 5 to 7 years old, check manufacturer recommendations.

A replacement carbon monoxide detector will give you the protection you need and peace of mind. Your safety depends on how fast you deal with this issue.
