Check your muffler's spark arrestor screen for clogging. Also test your compression. It needs to be be at least 100 psi for the engine to start.

I did that no clogs and compression is good. I cleaned h&l screwed them tote and backed them off 1 1/2 turns nothing. Could not find it anywhere on how many turns. Still nothing.

Then check for a sheared flywheel key. The molded in keys tends to shear rather easily on trimmers and blowers.

Okay try this remove the fuel lines prime until there is nothing but air in the carb. Try pulling several times and see if it start up any at all.

Since you rebuilt the carb when you put the metering diaphragm on it was gasket to the carb body and then diaphragm right? Reverse ordered will cause the carburetor to flood.

SOURCE: runs only via primer bulb

You definitely have a fuel problem. But you will have to take the carburetor off and disassemble it. As far as other carburetor parts failing; yes , but it's probably do to old age or much use. You should first take the carb. apart and clean the all ports with a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), they work great for this job. The smallest particle's can keep the carb. from operating properly. Also, check for a small screen that filters the fuel. It sets down in a larger port. It can get clogged as well, or even blocked completely. If after you have done all of this and it still doesn't work, you will need to purchase a carburetor kit for unit. It will come with various gaskets, a screen, and a needle valve. this should definitely solve your problem. You will also want to change your air filter, (if you haven't already), because if it is old and dry rotted, pieces of the filter can get sucked into the carb. that you just spent an hour or so cleaning. You will then have to disassemble carb. and clean again, NOW THAT WOULD STINK!!
Good luck.

SOURCE: Craftsman Weedeater won't start

You are definitely on the right track. There is only one thing that could be wrong as long as you replaced the needle valve, screen, gasket, & diaphragm. When cleaning the carb., you need to clean the small portals incarb. with a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning between teeth), they work great for this job. These portals, if blocked slightly, can cause this problem.

Verify that the new gas lines are on the carb correctly and the bulb is holding gas. If that is ok then the carb is needing to be rebuilt because one of the jets is plugged up or both. If you pour gas in the carb and it starts and runs for a short time then the carb is probably the problem. You can buy a rebuilt kit for them cheap.

Trimmer won't prime to start

Look inside the tank. Some units have a stone inside that blocks the fuel line when it is tipped a certain way. Might be what's happening here.

Ryobi 410 mini tiller w/Walbro WT149A primer bulb won't prime. New bulb, new fuel lines, hooked up right, carb cleaned. Been sitting for several years.Runs when fuel is pumped into the fuel inlet.

hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, !!

Pb 755 runs but when you open it up for more power it will not give it to you charge fuil filter ,air filter new spark plug new could it be the rings

Does it still run the same or bog out? Look at the fuel line going into the carb and see if it has bubbles in it. When you pump the primer you will see them moving in the line. If so then replace the line where it is leaking. It could be coming from the carb to the primer. Then it is coming from inside the carb. Needs to be rebuilt or at least cleaned. Take it off and slowly take it apart careful not to damage the gaskets. And you can clean it and put it back together. Or get a kit. Probably 15 or so. Here is a site where you can get parts and a break down of it. Good luck.

Should be two fuel lines coming from fuel tank grommet. One feeds the carb's primer plate and the other returns from the same. Open the fuel tank and observe while pressing the primer. If you see fuel pumped INTO the tank while pushing the primer and pulled FROM the tank when the primer is released, you're OK. If not, the lines are backward. Filtered line is on SUCTION side of primer bulb. Unfiltered line is on PRESSURE side of primer and is simply a return to the tank.
Next, concerning the coil: Air gap should be .010 inch at the magnet. Echo ignition coils are warrantied for life to the original purchaser, so don't tamper too much with it. Check gap and check fire with a spark tester. If no spark with switch in on position, take it to an AUTHORIZED SERVICING dealer, found here.

Hope this helps,
Dolf-

Remove the spark plug and squirt a little bit of the fuel from the gas tank into the spark plug hole, replace the spark plug and crank it over several times.

If it runs, or tries to run... that tells you that your engine, ignition system and gasoline are good (or atleast good enough to get it started)

Next check your fuel line and the primer ball. Make sure that when you pump the primer ball that you can see it pumping fuel through the fuel lines in ONE direction only. (It's kind of hard to see, you might have to start the test with empty fuel lines).

If that fails, you need a carb kit because that's where the check valves are. (unless your primer ball is cracked, broken, or clogged)

Next check the metering diafram and needle in the carb. If the diafram is hard (not easily flexible) or if the needle valve is stuck shut the engine will not be able to get the fuel that it needs to run.

If the Needle valve is stuck, just clean it and it'll most likely be fine.

If the diaphram is hardened, you need a carb kit.

If all the above is ok and it still doesn't work... check the gasket at the base of the carb to make sure that the posative pressure pulses from the crankcase are able to make it through the little holes into the carb (that's how it pumps fuel into the carb).

That's pretty much all the easy stuff. Keep in mind that a new carb only costs about $28 at most places.
