You should have its remote control to do a factory reset. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

Hi, ensure your aerial is working, try another set on it.
If it is plug it in and perform a reset to factory default through the option on the menus available from the remote control.

My toshiba flatscreen says retail unlock on it an it wont do nothyn.. how i fix it without original remote

You can reset and eliminate the lock on some televisions without the remote.. Hold the power button for five seconds. The television will automatically restart. If the lock is still on, unplug the television and remove the battery from the back panel of the television. Wait several hours before reconnecting the plug and reattaching the battery.

You say you have a Universal remote. If you have not done so yet use the procedures that came with your remote to install it on your Toshiba. After using the install procedures you should at least be able to power on and off the TV.

power the TV on and then do the following:

TOSHIBA specific advertisements or "Retail Lock" at anytime when operating, perform the following procedure:
    1. Using the remote control, press 1, 2, 3, 4 in this order. This will release the "Retail Lock" mode.
    2. Perform a factory reset of the TV
    3. Resetting Factory Defaults:
To reset all settings and channels to their factory default values:
1 Press the MENU button and open the Installation menu.
2 Highlight Reset TV, and then press the ENTER button.
3 Enter your PIN code (If a PIN code has been set).
4 A con?rmation screen appears. Select Yes, and press the ENTER button. The TV will turn off automatically.
    Then do the following:
    1. Power on the TV. You will be prompted to perform the first time setup.
    2. Be sure to set the Location option to Home.
    3. Continue with the first time setup.
The "Retail Lock" should be disabled and you can now use all the functions of the TV.

    hope that helps

I have a Warfedale tv (do not know the model) and the child lock is on and I do not have a remote. How can I unlock the tv without the remote?

    Never heard of that brand!

You need to look at it real good- find the manufacturers label which will have the model and serial number. Copy the information and go to any good electronics store and find a universal remote for that set. Configure the remote and find the child lock menu and turn the lock off. If it requires a password and you do not have that either, you will have to perform a "reset to factory defaults" from the menu.

TV's will not usually allow access to the child lock controls without a remote.
