Hello. When I hold the laptop (put pressure on the motherboard) the fan makes a whirring, squealing sound. Is there a problem with the motherboard? I don't think this is normal

It's the fan, NOT the motherboard.
Stop squeezing the laptop over the fan.

Testimonial: "It's not that I'm squeezing the laptop, just lifting it up, the way you carry a pizza pie. Initially, the computer was flat on a surface and the squealing sound started. What should I do to rectify this? Fans are supposed to be quiet. Any suggestions?"

Get a can of compressed air and blow out as much dust as you can from the vents around the fan area of the computer case.

Cabrio Dryer making whirring sounds

That could be something in the blower. In the past I have found garment support wires. That could very well be it. The dryer is built quite well with 4 wheels instead of 2 wheels. You can drop the service panel in front and remove the filter housing very easily to inspect the blower and clean the filter chute. Here is my home movie on repairing one of these

With out the mode number can't really help. Remove battery and plug in AC Charger. Push and hold Power on button for 30secs. Then try powering up again.

If unit still fails most likely to be a System/Motherboard fault. If under warranty contact HP.

Gateway laptop - whirring, buzzing sound

if it's a continuous whirring sound it is most likely the cooling fan. this is normal. as the computer gets older this will get noticably louder as the fan has to run faster to prevent overheating.

Constant whirring- fan?

The whirring sound could mean the computer is running pretty warm and the fan is working hard to cool it. Or your fan is flat out going bad in which case replace it. One thing you might try is to get a can of compressed air (BlowOff) and see if you can get some dust out that may make you computer run cooler and your fan run smoother.
please leave rating, thank you kindly

Panasonic CF-51 toughbook will not start up

I was able to fix this problem by reseating the componets inside (CPU & RAM) and resetting CMOS (pulled the batt for 10 sec.)

I had the same problem. Remove HD and Batt. Pop the cover over the speakers & power button off. Slide the keyboard up and out, fold over out of the way. Pull the connector from the cmos battery for 10 sec then plug back in (2 wire conn next to speaker wire connector. Unscrew the heatsink on the cpu, remove. Wipe the thermal compound off. Flip the latch down and lift the CPU slightly out of socket, put it back in socket and lock retain latch. Apply new thermal compound install heatsink. Put back together, boot up. You will get an error the first time because the bios has been changed. You can hit F2 for setup to change time and date, save changes exit.

Hope that helps.

Faint noise on booting.

Try this remove side cover and boot computer listen for any extra noise fan etc. also by power supply
As I think you have a bad bearing in a fan
To temp fix it
remove paper cover over center of fan and put a small and I mean small drop of light machine oil on bearing then replace paper cover.
check if this stops the noise if it does you know which fan to replace.
If it is power supply fan and if you think yourself capable remove fan and do the same to it

I have a GSL25JFPH BS refrigerator by GE. It made the whirring sound, a repairman came out and told me that the fan motor needed replacing, price of $277. I sent him away, and after a few minutes on the internet, saw on this site that a new circuitboard (part# WR55X10656) should fix it. I found it on ebay for $83, and it took about fifteen minutes to install. No more whirring!!
