Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

My 40" Toshiba LCD TV (model 40RV525U) won't turn on. While plugged in the green power light constantly blinks, but the TV won't power on. Unplugging the TV stops the power light from blinking, but once...

These blinks are fault indications, and are called blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. If you're sound in electronics, this will make the repair easy. If you wish to get more details about these blinking codes, check this link. Blinking codes to many brand TVs are described in detail. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Toshiba TV won't turn on

Toshiba? Suspect that if it uses a Lamp for brightness (a model number would help) it may have failed----customer replaceable and if remove look to see it is not shattered inside--2 year, 2000 hour life is normal.

I have a toshiba 42RV530U and it won't turn on, no yellow or green light. what can be wrong. There is power going inn.

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_5_2012_5_14_18_pm.jpg

Toshiba tv 40rv525u has started to change channels

My TV 40RV525U changing channels, menus itself for few months ( I use antenna).
my son tried to stop the channel scrolling by enter weird number into the channel to stop it scrolling such as 555, 777..
later, it turn on off by itself and unable to hold on a channel
I call Toshiba customer service and they ask money $25 for troubleshooting but I denied since I do not want to waste money and time.

Now, I found how to fix it myself.

In my case, something was wrong with the signal comes from the button control on the left side of the TV.
========================
What I did
========================
unplug the power cord.
Remove back cover.
Look into the motherboard ( biggest green at the center).

First, I disconnect a connector on the motherboard come from the IR board that receive the wireless signal control ( meaning the remote is disable).
I turn on the TV, press on Menu button on the TV side. Menu is still scrolling.

I turn off TV, disconnect power cord and connect the IR connector back to the motherboard.
I then disconnect the nearby connector that comes from the side control buttons.

Turn on the TV by remote, press menu button on the remote to check. The menu stays.

DONE.

I use electric tape to seal off the connector and let it hanging there.
Close the TV back panel

I have been watching TV for 3 nights without menus/channels scrolling.
NO AVAILABLE red message when watching DVD is no longer existed.

Hope this help someone else.

Good day sir!!!

I want to know first if your TV have blinking lights red or green after the TV turns off?..if so,please count the blinking light to diagnose where the fault comes from..Or try to disconnect all connections of your TV such as DVD etc..then try again..

If the power supply and main board are both new..the possible problems are overheat or overload so please try the suggestions above..If not work please let me know if you have multimeter or if you know how to used it because we will proceed to voltage data..

Thank you for purchasing my service..

Have a nice day!!!

Green light flashes on and off but wont turn on

That sounds like its not getting any power - enough to start up and then turn off.

Thought 1 is that the control panel power button is busted - the actual piezo switch.

Thought 2 is that there is a short in the unit such that power comes in, turns on the light, but then overloads the board and the thing shuts down.
