Question about HP Computers & Internet
I'm running XP and it says there's a problem with the. Lucent Win Modem? The printer works wirelessly on our network with our iPads and notebooks, but not with my older PC running XP either wireless or using a printer cable.
The Lucent Win Modem is hardware on your computer and if that has failed then that could be causing a problem during the installation if it can't connect to the printer. What is your product number? Use this link to find it: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/findModel?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&lang=en
Which type of printer cable did you use an Ethernet cable or a USB cable?
You can also try using the HP Print and Scan Doctor as well. Download and run that and it should be able to tell you the problem and it might even fix it for you.
I work on behalf of HP.

I don't know if you are using a cd from HP whith the windows xp software on it, because I done something like that before and didn't work, you have to find a cd from hp with windows hp software intallation on it otherwise you will have problems, after the installation you can search for the update drivers from hp.com.

Most of the time the problem with the network controller is that you have the wrong driver. The easiest way to get the right driver is to get the make and model off the wireless card, then go driverguide.com and download a driver for the card. You may have to download several before finding the right one. Once you've found the right driver, burn it to a disc for future reference. When downloading the drivers save them to the desktop before installing.

there are 3 or 4 different drivers on the acer website for you system for wireless networking download all of them and try them all one at a time if you do no know which one suites your system. they are labeled as wifi drivers. that would be the easiest route.
