tried turning it on/off with it plugged in, still can't get the charge light to come on. Thanks in advance for your help.

remove the battery and plug it in then place battery back on while plugged in

I just bought a DVPFX935 today, and the battery light would not turn on. I tried your trick : putting the battery in place while player is on, and now it works !!!!
