I have tried disconnecting everything, tried different keyboard, screen, mouse, cables etc. I am unable to access BIOS set-up by pressing F1 or F10, in fact tried all combinations and repeatedly pressing etc, can into HP set-up but not very good with computers so unsure where to go next, any help at all would be appreciated

From researching on Google it looks like it is a cable failure. Try checking the cable ensuring that it is seated properly. Also try a different cable.

Thanks Mike, what cable exactly should I try? power cable tried/changed, no difference. Do you mean a cable inside the machine?

Yes. The media failure error probably means the cable connecting the drive is compromised.

Likely hard disk failure or no boot sector on hard disk.
try making a bootable usb with YUMI
http://pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator

try memtest and a linux like ubuntu or Mint to see if it boots and sees your files.

These are network boot cards, basically it's looking for boot options from across your network. You can change the boot options in your BIOS or there is usually a key combination to press that is displayed on screen during boot to shut of the PXE boot of your network card.

SOURCE: hi my computer is playing up when i turn it on it

Disconnect the Floppy, CD/DVD and any other Drive you have connected and boot the machine. If the machine boots shut it down and connect the disconnected devices 1 at a time until you have it isolated. If the Computer doesn't boot and you still get the same fault then your hard drive has faulted try a different drive.

The keyboard needs replacing. Replacement keyboard for your laptop maybe available from this WEB site.
PXE-E61 ERROR
The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable Pxe-M0f: Exiting Broadco

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable (of the HARD DISK pls)

pls first check the hard disk seated in the bottom left side of ur notebook u have to take out the 7 or 8 screws first and then take take it out by pulling the connector gently and try to re seat or re fit the hard disk so connector can seat firmly in hard disk and then power up ur notebook if Error persists

then sorry to tell u my friend that ur Hard disk has CRASHED and not giving up files for OS loading kindly replace ur HARD DRIVE and restore ur OS thru backup disk u got

Pls take care of ur notebook from bumps and falls and hard impacts during operation and carrying bcoz the disk inside the HDD is very sensitive and gets damaged easily by impacts

pls rate me FIXYA for my diagnosis

Boot

sounds like hard disk faliure, suggest getting a new hard disk or perhaps attempt a system reinstall. Its not the fan but the hard disk.
