Question about LG 47LG70 42 in. LCD TV
Red standby light pulses and no picture.
I would have to agree about the compassitors being the prob. Get ur user manual out see if that bad boy is covered under manufac warr. Even if it's not u can always call and say u are there number #1 cust u have got everyone u know to switch over. I got Samsung to fix it once out of warr. Next if u have to call a TV guy call several get prices and ask if they can do it on the side it takes them like 10 min

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes).
From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Capacitors ...LG is known for blowing capacitors just about the time the warranty runs out. If you can see the capacitors in the lower left / middle, bludged & or black ...they are blown. If you r handy, you can fix it yourself. Pick up a soldering iron & solder (garage sales cheap, this time of year). Mouser Electronics or EBay will have what you need. Take a picture before u start to unplug anything. Pay attention to negative side & the size u remove from board. I have fixed about 5 of these now & it's always the capacitors.
I hope this helps,

If it is lg or samsung it's probly the capacitors
If you are handy you can pull the back off your tv. When you see the circuit board look for small barrel shaped items with a cross etched across the top. If any if those are bulging on the top. Or even split open with black stuff oozed out. Then they need to be replaced
Remember to unplug unit from power source before removeing back panel
