Question about Sony Televison & Video
Sony Muteki with USB Fail message or turning on and off is generally related to a faulty mains input relay. Search for it in the schematic and replace with a stronger part. Sony uses a very weak relay to connect the mains after power button is pressed. It doesn't last too much.

Try leaving the TV unpugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
If that doesn't work, most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you flashing red light codes, circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

I don't know about your particular tv, but most of the LCD tv's have a power off option that it will turn off after 3 hours of no activity.
Why it would turn itself off at 3 and 30 minutes is beyond me. But I did want to write so you can check your settings to see if maybe someone has programmed in some shutdown times or something.
Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!

SOURCE: Unit keeps turning itself off.
This Unit is a LCD Rear Projection and most likely the Lamp is causing the problem. I would replace it with a Sony Lamp only. You can order it from Sony at 1800-222-SONY.
I hope this helps,

these sets that shut down or turn themselves off after a few seconds usally have a bad backlite board in them. look closely at the screen and see if one section looks darker than the rest of the screen (top middle or bottom - top seems most common in my cases). some times if you put the tv on an unused input you can see the variation of light level on the screen, but don't get confussed by looking at the screen from too great of an angle. thanks ......techman 580-243-8025
